http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/967259/posts

Seriously, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it myself. Either a bunch of disruptors all ended up on one post or a good number of the FReeps are getting sick of Bush's expanding wartime exploits.

Basically, some guy is promoting an e-mail campaign to Congress encouraging that we take on Iran and Syria and he caught broadsides on both ends. I never thought I'd see the day when a FReeper would call other FReeper a "keyboard patriot" and challenge the "keyboarder" to enlist if he was so supportive of a war.

1. Pikers
What happened to their "protecting our freedoms" support our troops claptrap???

Don't understand. Don't understand at all. War is good. War is fun.
War is glorious.

Smirk is a wonderful war leader. Why would they want to squander this golden opportunity to blast brown people?

2. Well, some Freepers are probably Buchananites who are OK on this issue
if on not much else...

Isolationism's saving grace is that it limits the amount of damage we can directly do, if nothing else...

7. Someone calling for 9/11 investigation...
Complete with resignations. Holy sh*t. He probably doesn't realize the resignations need to begin with shrubbie and cascade right on down the line. He might change his tune. However, it was a little scary to see something come out of a Freeper that I agree with (except for the fact that he frames it in relation to conservatism, ack):

"If '9/11 changed everything' crap had any backbone or intellectual seriousness in the scope of conservatism, there would have been a rigorous investigation, complete with resignations in disgrace, pension stripping, and criminal investigations for incompetence.

To this day, not one resignation."

I like this disgrace part. The more disgrace, the better!

10. The average freeper is just as sincere as we are
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 12:16 PM by Tinoire
I don't think many of them are any worse than we are as people.

Their biggest problem seems to be that they are seriously mis-informed!

13. Freeper! Disruptore! Wingnut! How dare you?
More seriously, you've just violated DU's first commandment: Thou shalt not consider Freepers as human beings.

(Note for the mods: I'm bashing DU, not him, so I'm not in violation of any rule)

11. Very surprising.
Maybe they are starting to realize that real people, including American kids, die in wars. Maybe they are starting to realize that the army is already stretched very thin, and that any new wars would require a draft. Maybe they are starting to realize that wars cost money.

have to do the sacrificing!

15. Is that the consensus over there, or is it just
a handful of mavericks? Lemme go see...
If it's the majority opinion of FR, we might just have turned a BIG corner!

16. Up till now I haven't seen that many "anti-war" posts at all
So, if they are mavericks they've kept relatively quiet up till this one particular thread.

It could be a small group but perhaps things are starting to finally get to where people are starting to see where the current policy is going to take us and they aren't that thrilled with it any more.

Or, perhaps a bling pig just found today's acorn.

The fact that they haven't been bounced/tombstoned yet by Jimbo is interesting in and of itself though.
