Should Kerry distance himself from the Catholic church?
In light of all the molestation, kiddie porn, who other malfeasance committed by the clergy, should Kerry renounce cathoicsm before the right starts to accuse him of being in league with child rapers?

1. Faith is a highly personal matter.
Or it should be, anyway.

So, no.

who, I might add, are a minority. He could bring up death penalty, and war /torture supporters. The right will never attack Catholics outside of the south.(could lose the Irish, Italian and Polish, MexAm vote.)

8. I thought it was funny. And hopefully tongue-in-cheek...
Because this shows the hypocrisy of politicians. Whoopie and Janet Jackson, baaad. Catholic Church, good.

I am no way casting dispersions on the Catholic Church. I'm just saying that they're very selective about their moral outrage.

victims of rape were Catholics themselves. Catholics are not to blame for this. Its the priests that did these things and the higher ups that covered it up that need to answer for these crimes. People of the Catholic faith themselves are more outraged than anyone else because its their Church members that have been victimized. I think most people can make the distinction between members of the Catholic faith and the clergy of the Church that were involved in these acts.

Kerry does not need to distance himself from the Church. On the other hand, I don't want him to go on and on about being Catholic, which he hasn't. Its okay to have faith. What is not okay is to mix it with making government policies.

Edit--spelling

10. none of my business what his religious beliefs are---
as long as he doesn't try to force them on me (which I don't think he will). He can follow whatever religion he pleases. Doesn't bother me a bit.

And Kerry is not responsible for the failings of the church--I actually feel it is wrong to blame anyone for the problems of the church except the people actually involved (and those who covered up for them). Like any organization, people do bad things---that is true for any group run by people.

13. Should Muslims distance themselves from Islam?
you know with all the terrorism, child torture and genocide being done in Africa in their name lately before the right starts to accuse them (as they already) of all them being in support of such atrocities?

14. I think anyone who doesn't support the rape of young boys by
older men in positions of power should protest and then find a religion based on moral values not pedophile values.

15. No. Let him have his faith. His relationship with God and church is
entirely up to him, and hiss-boo to the GOPers who try to smear that. We'll trot out all their stellar moral majority members to show how two-faced they are being.

Would Jesus love a liberal? You bet!
