Bill Press says Republicans don’t like elections.
This is music to my keyboard, someone is finally saying what we’ve known all along.

(skip)

“It started, of course, in Florida. We all remember that election night. Networks first declared Gore the winner, then Bush, then nobody. Bush led by a narrow margin, but thousands of butterfly ballots were in dispute. Thousands more were up in the air over hanging, dimpled or pregnant chads. The only way to resolve it was a full, statewide recount — or at least a recount of the most screwed-up county tallies.”

(skip)

“Public election theft No. 2 is now taking place in Texas….”

(skip)

Enter the California recall: public election theft No. 3. …”

(skip)

“And they call this democracy? No, this isn't democracy. This is pure anarchy. But make no mistake about it, it didn't just suddenly happen. This is part of an organized, continuing, nationwide Republican plot to undermine legitimate elections.”

1. Actually, it started with the Impeachment.
Which is as close to a coup d'état as this country has ever seen.

7. yep. the impeachment debacle was intended to nullify
Clinton's election.

It did effectively blunt the potential of his administration.

11. It is the "noup coup"...

No need for guns & martial law.. Just "fix" enough voting machines in crucial areas, and wham! you have instant "regime change", and enough of the public will buy into it, that there will be very little objection..

2000 proved that..they stole a presidential election right out from under the noses of 50% of the population, and other than a few eggs at the "installation",the need to only parade the puppet at "selected venues with a bused in "audience", and a torrent of angry c-span callers, the effect has been "fabulous" for them...

They started so BIG, that a few congressional seats here or there, a governorship, and some senate seats, are chump change:(

We missed the boat..

2. No they don't, and here's why
My vote, should it be counted, puts just as many into my candidate's column as anyone else's. That sort of egalitarian/socialist/communist level playing field is anathema to the Republican mindset.

3. Exactly
Back in 1992, the Republicans were all running around with bumbers stickers that said, "Annoy the liberal media, vote Republican." So I put a sign on the back of my car that said, "Annoy the Republicans. Vote."

6. How Annoying
That we have to
Fight elections
For our cause
The inconvenience
Having to get a majority
If other methods
Of persuasion
Fail to win us applause
There are other ways
Of establishing authority - Juan Peron

We have ways of making you vote for us
Or at least of making you abstain - Thugs

Evita, by Andrew Loyd Webber and Tim Rice.

8. And remember the aborted Venezuela coup last year?
Was it just last year that this corrupt administration was trying to topple Hugo Chavez? One of the comments out of Washington during the 24 Hour Junta was to the effect that just because Chavez had won a majority of the votes for president, that didn't confer legitimacy on him.

Sadly, with the death of journalism and irony in this country, no one found that comment the least bit scandalous or funny, but was widely reported with no more emotion than the latest DJIA numbers.

9. Of course they don't like elections, they are expensive
and only the bottom line has value.

12. it started before the impeachment

1930s: the industrialists-elites nearly unseated FDR in a military coup. It was only foiled because U.S. Marine General Smedley Butler ratted them out.

McCarthyism

The spoiling of the Paris peace talks to keep the U.S. at war in Vietnam.

JFK assassination.

Watergate

Reagan's shadow government and Iran Contra

Bush Sr. botching the hostage release to influence election

Perle botching ME peace talks prior to 2000 election

The coup attempt against Clinton

Election 2000

Bush administration/GOP attacks against balance of powers and democratic processes

..........just a few instances of attacks on the Constitution because their ideology is not accepted by the American people.
