2. Deep throat as in "Woodward and Bernstein?" probably one or two.
"Deep Throat" as in Linda Lovelace? Plenty.

10. I read your post...
and I answered it. One or two is what I said.

e.g.
Seymour Hersh
Greg Palast

5. Disregarding innuendo, yes....
... but few to none working at the major papers which command the attention of the TV networks.

A sad state of affairs....

6. maybe, but...
There might be several out there, but I think the word from on high - the editors & publishers - is a lot farther to the right than it used to be. So, unless you have pictures of Bush, Cheney & the gang saying "Sieg Heil" to Hitler's clone, the story will likely get buried and said reporter will be re-assigned to some obscure post.

8. it's the internet
Real journalism is now right here on the web. I agree that Sy Hersh and a few others are quite capable and have loose-enough leashes to actually be able to report the truth. Most of the rest of the corporate media doesn't want to report the truth and won't let it be reported.

It's Kos, and Palast, and Atrios, and Josh Marshall, Will Pitt, Daniel Hopsicier, and Paul Thompson (among others) that are truly great journalists.
\
Some of the farther-out folks like Rense, Joe Vialls, Michael Ruppert, and Michael Chossoduvsky are getting at the truth despite being ignored and criticized by many of us. Hindsight is beginning to vindicate these guys and will continue to do so.

I'm increasingly convinced the Woodward is CIA (and was back then) and that Deep Throat (also CIA) fed W&B the Nixon info in order to take him down. Woodward hasn't done squat since then except for be a Bush lapdog. If he was truly independent he would have broken open 9-11 and many of the other stories that are ignored by the mainstream media.

Thank god for the internet. If we are lucky, it holds the keys to a free and prosperous future for this world.

9. Amy Goodman
...and of course Bob Woodward, MWO's 2003 WHORE OF THE YEAR would be the first one to cover up any wrongdoing committed by President Asshole!

12. Whatis really needed are editors like Ben Bradlee
Bradlee was the WashPost editor who let Woodward and Bernstein run with the initial Watergate break-in story and the subsequent investigation.

A journalist can't do squat without a strong editor's backing. These days, editors are scared into toeing the management line, and management is far more pro-corporate than it was in 1972.
