Did anyone see Nachman v. Michael Moore today?
It was on Buchanan and Press, with Nachman sitting in for Buchanan.

It was very bizarre. Nachman kept trying to nail Moore, and when Moore would refute Nachman's assertions (Nachman had some bad research!) Bill Press would actually rescue Nachman! At one point, Press actually used the GOP talking points...asking Moore if he isn't glad Saddam is gone!

And when the conversation came to election 2000, and Moore said Bush wasn't elected, and Nachman went on a little fizzy riff about how there was an electoral college and a newspaper recount yadda yadda, Press helped Nachman!

It appears that Nachman is weakened from his illness and Press is sheltering him.

Nice, but bad. If Nachman can't keep up, he should be doing something else.

3. ...
MSNBC transcripts are easily found by going to their site, then MSNBC TV, and searching for the show. They should have it up within the next couple of days.

2. Nachman is editor in chief of GE's MSNBC, so press must
come to his aid. This is a huge conflict of interest and one of the many reasons I don't watch the electronic Berlin wall.

4. I like how Press kept calling him 'Roger Moore'
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 01:33 AM by wtmusic
I was hoping someone in the studio would have the spontaneity to play the Bond theme, but it didn't happen.

edit: word used out of context like a moran

5. NachoMan knows his place...
...whereas Moore, like any sensible person, rejects consensus thought and thinks for himself.

When opposites of this order meet, it's the duty of the well-entrenched establishment man to gnash his teeth like an attack dog at the heterodox culprit. This, for NachoMan, was the only allowable move: patrol the borders of the official line, snapping at prowlers.

After all, you don't get to be MSNBC editor by daring to have your own ideas. It takes years of hard, patient obedience before you can have your own show where you affect an air of idiosyncratic aloofness while dutifully and unerringly toeing the line. :-)

7. I Saw It!
Nachman was terrible. I've always wondered why he needs to be on camera. Any way, he did no research just relied on right wing interview tactics. At the end, he was so upset the told Moore to keep making lots of money. That was when it dawned on me that the right wing especially hates liberals who make lots of money. They think that if you are rich, you should think like them and want to keep all systems geared toward the rich getting richer.

Also, he had a book by some right wing nut challenging Moore and childishly waved it while Moore was speaking -- I guess when people are remotely on the show they have some way of seeing the hosts.

By the way, Press defends Jr's right to take as long a vacation as he wants because he is president whereever he is.

9. It just shows how far and how much all our media is controlled.
I don't like or trust any of the media you see daily on TV. They have to do and say whatever it takes to keep their jobs.

10. I also watched "Bowling for Columbine" to check out Nachman's
assertions. Moore naile him correctly. Nachman was misrepresenting the facts (lying) about the documentary. His allegation about Lockheed Martain was a blatant lie that Moore too nicely called him on.

11. I watched Bowling for Colombine for the first time last night
and YES, Nachman was totally wrong..the mention of Lockheed Martin as makers of guns, as Nachman says that Moore represented, was NOT in the movie..Moore was tying in the fact that Lockheed Martin makes missiles, and is in Littleton, CO, ergo, the fact that the kids in Littleton see all the adults around them using Violence as a means to deal with their anger (including the US gov), was the point Moore was making.
Nachman was lame, and Moore won the whole show.
The movie was fantastic. sad. but great.

13. Except . . .
The plant in Littleton does not make missles; it makes rockets for the space program.

So, the killers in Columbine were driven to violence because some people in the town work for NASA?

I should be on tv. I'm the only person who knows anything about anything.

12. Well I can't find the link
but I had a link where the Miami Herald actually went on with the recount and said Gore had the most votes, it is more in-depth with it too.

14. yep!
4 out of the 5 standards used to do the media recount had Gore winning.....and that does not include the thousands of thousands of african american people that were told by Bush's Florida campaign manager (Katherine Harris) that they could not vote and all the overseas ballots that Bush's people tampered with. By the way, Gore would have won if they ended up recounting the votes using the stictest standard....the 2000 election is a forgotten story and for some reason people think Bush won the media recount when he did not.

I WANT MY DAMN COUNTRY BACK!

15. no transcript yet....
.....but I'll keep watching for it.

It's instructive because it shows how much more we know than either Nachman OR Press.
