Did anyone else hear a brief breaking news report on CBS 11 pm news?
Of an explosion in a Times Square subway?

It isn't even on the CBS New York website.

And CNN doesn't have it.

Did I hallucinate or mishear?

Fireworks Cause Times Square Subway Explosion

POSTED: 10:08 pm EDT July 19, 2004

NEW YORK -- An explosion forced the evacuation of one of the city's busiest subway stations Monday.

Detectives said the explosion was caused by a bag full of fireworks.

The blast injured a police officer and caused gridlock in Times Square. Under ground, train service was disrupted. Meanwhile, traffic above ground was at a near standstill.

2. Thank you!
I was on the phone, looked up and my heart almost stopped. I took the TV off mute but then it was too late to know what was going on.

5. Whew, thank you, my heart was sinking
what a relief.

What idiot would carry a big bag of fireworks onto a subway in NY? Good grief!

3. If it had been anything serious...
Tom Ridge would be all over the TV, telling you to go shopping and take in a Broadway play.

6. It was a teaser promo toward the end of CSI: Miami, so...
I assumed it was of little consequence or they would have interrupted the show.

Sure enough, just a bag of fireworks.

If they ever find a real bomb, you'll know about it.

10. Who were the suspects and did they show the fireworks?

Huum, if I wanted to protest, would I want to come to New York in August?
