Spin off: Those who are afraid and those who arent afraid...
In that thread about "who else is afraid" do you have children? On both sides of the scared not scared aisle. and how old are they if you do? I am scared and I think the whole reason I am scared is for my little boy. he is 2 1/2. I am scared for him. He is the reason I am fighting for him. and I am scared of what bush is going to do to my boys world and future. So I am just wondering if you are scared is it for your children's future and if you aren't scared and have children please help me get rid of that feeling by understanding what you tell yourself.

4. Don't fool yourself
they're after the ones that feel "secure." Did you mean that your kids are poverty-stricken, jobless, and unable to be educated. These persons will be safe because they are the fodder that feeds the top 1% and keep their "conservative" programs en force, such as No Child Left Behind, privitized prisons, charter schools in the inner city, and private armies that keep the arms deals churning. (All for indoctrination and control, not to mention destroying the fabric of the middle class striving to "secure" the blessings of liberty.)

Your children may end up as "collateral damage" of the safety gained from those information databases such as DNA, library interests, innocent charitable donations not to mention the "defects" of race, religion, marital status, gender, age, and health.

Some of us did not fear "terra" from the Mid East. It wasn't hard to spot the "terra" right here at home at the highest levels of fed, state, and local government as well as at the heads of your well-meaning corporations doing "good" for the world. Some of these folks are facilitating our very destruction from within.

The only way your children will be safe will be to teach them well to critically examine everything done in their name and how to keep voting free of manipulation.

2. Those of us with children of or near drafting should be scared...
My son is 17. If the fascists have their way they will draft my son into a military NOT used to defend America against attack but for imperialistic adventures around the world. We should all be afraid of this. They have no right to force my child into that kind of service but they will if given 4 more years.

At 2 1/2 you and your son have some breathing room. Unless we decend into civil war here in the streets of America ( a real possibility with the criminals stealing elections) things will hopefully be better by the time he is 18.

3. I'm worried about all the children.
I'm not a parent, but I am an aunt a couple times over. I'm not scared though, just absolutely furious at what this country has become, and is yet growing worse. The lack of empathy and compassion I see around me is sickening, and I truly believe that we "eat" our young. It's always the children that suffer the most, and that's what pisses me off the greatest.

7. I'm scared too
I'm scared for my kids--4 and 2. What kind of world are they going to live in? I'm scared of the draft, as it could take both my kids and my husband as well (he's a doctor, and the new rules say he has no age limit for the draft). If we don't get these war-mongers out, they're going to destroy all of us.

I agree that my kids are privileged, as are most of us in the US. I've worked in a Russian orphanage, Central American barrios, and Native American reservations, and I know just what kind of poverty my kids could be living in but don't. All that said, though, I am worried we will spend away all these assets and privileges so that my kids inherit dust and disease. We must keep working.

8. My nephew is 16
And if they DARE to draft him.and he doesn't want to go,
they will NOT force him.period

Sometimes you got to risk your own ass to stand up for what is right even when everyone else is standing around doubting you or by standing waiting for someone else to do it first.Sometimes you gotta step up and risk stepping out of your comfort zone to stop what you think is morally sick about a system.Sometimes you gotta get militant and radical,in the face of radical evil masquerading as good.Sometimes ya gotta risk the wrath of the corrupt soul crushing system of laws made for the rich, take back the wealth of a nation from those who abuse the nation through wealth, and say < NO MORE >. Sometimes you have to not only raise your voice, but you must raise your fist, you have to use your strength skill, emotions, rational mind, and integrity to make it hurt the problem without hurting those who have been hurt and possibly maybe deluded by the mind games of a sick system that conditions obedience from cradle to grave all for the rich bullies that assume power and corrupt every group of people they associate with. No matter how much you want to believe that all people are good and deserve equal chances, some people are not trustworthy, some people really do choose to exploit and hurt their fellow human being to get what they want, they abuse trust, goodwill, social structures, and appeal to the"norm" appeal to your high ideals and emotions and play"expert"...to get inside and ruin everything to take it all and call themselves king.
They are abusers, narcissists, socialized sociopaths, bullies and they have no conscience because they threw away their humanity to have power-over,undeserved social status, sycophants to sing praises and wealth they do not earn by their own hands but steal from others through the "market"..

9. what a lovely child!
wish i cd offer hope, but i'm afraid your choices are a.) eat a lot of valium b.) get him ready for a lousy fate.

bravery does NOT=fearlessness. bravery means facing your fears & refusing to be cowed.

i have no doubt, despite the gnawing pain & fear, that you'll do your best to raise him into a fine young man: liberal, open-minded, moral, & brave enough to face, & fight, a horrid future.

find support from us: we love you.
