Anybody Else Catch Jerry Springer On C-Span ??? One Hell Of A Speech !!!
Caught it late last night. And it was on again earlier today! It was terrific, really!!!

<snip>

Speech
Youth Involvement in Politics
Young Democrats
Buffalo, New York (United States)
ID: 177801 - 3 - 08/14/2003 - 0:36 - $24.95

Springer, Jerry, Talk Show Host, Jerry Springer Show

Mr. Springer spoke to a group of young Democrats about Democratic Party values, including tax policy, education, as well as policy toward Iraq and Afghanistan.

<snip>

I mean, I don't care for the dude's show at all, and I thought he had one tall climb up the mountain to get that Senate Seat he was goin after, but instead of just slinking away, ole Jerry is still involved and gave a speech I'm dying for one of our 'Group Of Nine' to give. It wasn't any of that DLC go-along to get-along crap either.

My mom calls me today, asks me if I caught it, tells me she's already ordered the videotape (it ain't in the C-Span Video Archives, dammit), and Ma don't like Springer one bit. But she was totally blown away!

WillyT says, "CHECK IT OUT!!!" ... And MommaT too,LOL!!!

2. I Missed The Original Broadscast, Figured You Guys Had Already...
Discussed it. Then I did a search today after talkin to mom, and didn't see a single thread on it.

I figured I'd do a belated heads-up in case anybody wants to watch it, if it gets aired again!

3. If Jerry changed the format of his show to politics.
he could "redeem" himself.. He claims that his show's reputation "damaged" his chances..

Well here ya go Jerry.. an hour a day of truth telling and offering a format to the microphone-less progressives could actually reach the people we cannot seem to find..:)

There is enough outrage in the US to do several hours a day..

4. Caught about 15 minutes of it this morning
First I watched out of rubber neck curiosity but soon was blown away. The man had some good concrete ideas on what to do with this economy of ours. Workable ones.

Too bad he is Jerry Springer.

7. Caught the end of it,
It really was good and very inspiring. And I agree with SoCalDem, it's time for him to keep the same crowd but turn that show into the political and social issues behind the 'dysfunction'.

14. WyomingDem dear
If you are going to play with us, you really need to
come up to speed. He was the mayor of Cincinnati and
other various things. Yes, he has a talk show now and
Tom DeLay was a bug squasher and the Arnolds are
running for governor. Anything is possible in this
wacky world.

15. I liked his insights
I liked whejn he said "I've been at every rung of the economic ladder. But its only been since I've been at the top (wealthy) that I've realized that the system is only designed for the benefit of the wealthy". Then he goes on to talk about how taxes and such are designed to keep the rich happy. And that both republicans and democrats (although the reps are worse) both do it.

I liked what he said about cutting payroll taxes instead of income tax refunds.

Why arent the other candidates listening?????

17. Very Impressive
Actually, I was impressed with all I saw of Jerry when he was considering his Senate run. Too bad the public can't get past his show, or that he has a contract to stay on the show. He'd have made a great Senator.
