Bush team trying to put Kerry on defensive by attacking Edwards...
They are in full offensive. Every Repub talking head is spewing their personal propaganda today. But Edwards will need to defend himself, because he will get little support from the corporate media. The question is: How should he counter?

Perhaps he could suggest that a good lawyer might help to clean up the Enron and Halliburton mess that's stinking up the White House? He could suggest that he would like to go through this campaign and talk about the issues without being personally attacked? But if they want to air their dirty laundry in the public, then that's perfectly alright. That is their choice. But John Edwards will not sit back and take their dirty attacks without firing back. Mr Bush might want to get his VP under control, but maybe it's the VP that's calling the shots? We can understand that with Mr Bush's lack of foreign policy experience when he stole into the White House, that he might want Mr Cheney's expertise on matters of national security? Just what did Mr Cheney advise him? Is he still telling him there are WMDs? There are even rumors that Mr Cheney, as head of Halliburton, was doing business with Saddam Hussein right up to the 2000 election? Is that true? Did Michael Moore put that in his movie? And now that Mr Cheney's doctor has been dismissed because of his addiction to pain killers, do the people need an update on Mr Cheney's health since he has had 4 heart attacks and George W Bush is a heartbeat away from the presidency....

2. Dems should point out that Abe Lincoln was a trial lawyer too.
And Edwards has more foreign policy experience than Bush did in 2000.

4. You saw this then?

If Edwards has a skelton in his closet he should do the Republican thing...accuse the opponent of it first.

3. Don't counter.
Kerry and Edwards should give a positive image for now, energize Democrats and fundraising, and save the hardball stuff (like the "Mission Accomplished" ad I'm hoping for) until September and October.

Our surrogates can point out stuff like Bush's lack of experience, Edwards' record for fighting for regular people, and so forth, but Kerry and Edwards should stay out of the mud for a little bit.
