Poll question: Has the invasion and occupation of Iraq ...
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 11:01 PM by Spazito
strengthened or weakened the US's influence?

From someone who sits outside the borders of the United States but in close proximity, I have my own opinion on this but am curious how others see how the invasion and occupation affects the position of US influence in the world.

Please edify, if you are willing, as to why you voted as you did.

1. Is this a joke?

I mean, how the hell can torture, dead civilians, not to mention the looting of ancient treasures that was allowed in the first phases of the occupation, possibly strengthen U.S. influence? And, lest we forget, this obscene war was initiated based on the big lie about Saddam having wmd`s. Only a clueless Republican idiot could believe that this crap makes us look good in the eyes of the rest of the world. And uh- whatever happened to Bin Laden?

4. LOL too true...
from my perspective there are those who believe that the "go it alone" attitude strengthens the US. I am hoping those with that view will state why they believe that.

2. I say weakend
Because people don't see stupidity as strength.

How's the town? I hear the Express is hiring an editor. After that fucking prick use a shitload of ideas I gave him, I guess he figured it was time to hire someone.

3. LOL re the Editor of the Express, he is "eccentric" to put it politely...
he would tend to be a major "hands on" kind of person so editorial freedom might have been difficult had you gotten the position. I am glad you found a "home" at the paper you are at, I checked out the site, looks good!

8. The only thing that has influenced the power of the United States is GWB
He is the one who is viewed as a weak minded dilettante.
Replace the leadership with a competent president (Kerry) and Bush becomes a rectifiable but historical Supreme Court mistake.
