Mel Gibson to Re-Make "Fahrenheit 451"?
he's been considering it for years, it's common knowledge. the ray bradbury futuristic story about 'firemen' who burn books, which are banned by the totalitarian government. they burn people too i guess.
so it's right up mel's alley, burning books, grotesque computer generated staged scenes of burning flesh and literature....woo woo! the special effects! woo woo! the simulated suffering!

i liked him better when he was blasting bad guys in the outback on beat up old trucks at top speeds. lots of crashes and explosions.
no attempted acting.

1. I think I read that
book when I was too young. I thought it was terrible then, but now I think about the premise and what I remember of it and it seems pretty cool. Of course I have developed a taste for negative utopia stories lately.

2. IMDB says..
he was planning on starring and directing, but his schedule didn't allow him time to. It doesn't look as if he's attached to the project anymore.

5. Yeah that was Heinlein
That cat was in a number of his novels, those which taken together are known as the "Future History" series. Starring Lazarus Long primarily. Good stuff.

7. Thanks. I knew that the cat didn't sound right for Bradbury
I need to reread all those classics. Haven't touched most of them since high school.

6. LOL Mel sure has a thing for those...
...leather men, and assless chaps. Mad Max was all about his pent up homo-erotic S&M fantasies put on the screen.
