A Rethug's reaction to F911
Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 06:56 AM by Sirveri
This sort of encouraged hope, too bad she had a typical freeper style disconnect with reality in the end.

"4.)The movie is over and everyone applauds (me too). I tell my companion that I am not going to vote for Bush in case all the things in the movie are true."

to

"7.) The fog of propaganda and brainwashing is beginning to be lifted. I turn to the little group and say “O.k. I want to say just one more thing: If we’re going to talk about Bush being evil, then lets talk about ALL the people who are evil, including those who chop heads off and fly planes into buildings. THEN it is more balanced.” The crowd of three seems to concur. We all walk our separate ways."

You know you want to read and comment now!

1. The hardcore wingnuts will always be in denial
And they counter what they deem as bullshit with, well, more bullshit.

I tell the group that I hate Michael Moore because he gave an anti-Bush speech in front of a man who lost two sons at the trade center on 9/11.

Funny, I've heard he had a screening for 9/11 victims' families, and was met with rousing applause. I'm sure they want answers more than anyone, and I'm not so sure they love Bush so much.

Moore was jumped behind the stage at the Academy Awards(not common knowledge).

:wtf:

Sounds like A LOT of bullshit to me.

That's what I get for going to a site called "Moorewatch".

3. I just have to ask. . .
"I tell the group that I hate Michael Moore because he gave an anti-Bush speech in front of a man who lost two sons at the trade center on 9/11. "

Does she also hate O'Reilly for not allowing the son of a victim to have an opinion and cutting off his microphone?

2. Do They Think They're Witty?
Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 07:14 AM by DoctorWeird

4. I think it's a woman.
But seriously, look at some of those comments. They're vicious.

And of course nobody asks the obvious question.
If Michael Moore, with the amount of shit he talks, said something that was factually incorrect. Why has nobody sued him for Libel or Slander?

Could it be that he's telling the TRUTH?! OH MY GOD!

7. Truth is irrelevant.
This is the Administration of "Faith-Based Everything".

The freepers have faith in those crooks, so they accept all the spin & lies. Facts that don't fit are just denied.

9. That's the thing though.
This one actually started to sway. Then she ran in her own little incesstuous circles after comming out of the nest and got sucked back down.

The fact that this person was incapable of putting 2+2 together in this instance combined with severe indoctrination is sad. But considering that she almost switched teams over the film is a pretty huge testament to the film.

6. My response to "ALL the people who are evil"
is that "they are not the President of my country."

8. Exactly. We have no ability to vote the other evil people
out of their positions of power from which they can project their evil. That one guy though....

10. I keep wondering why the right yowls for "balance."
After all, it's the right that has destroyed the concept in all other media. Are they so totally thin skinned that they can't tolerate an opposing view in itself? (Don't answer, we already know)

They need to be told that this is an opinion piece, backed up by facts, and that including right wing ranting which is never backed up by facts for the sole purpose of "balance" is inappropriate in a film which relies so heavily on facts. The right wing ranting that is included is contradicted by facts, and that is the point of the film.

Tell them balance belongs in the newscasts. Since the right has destroyed even the pretense of balance, it's high time somebody put out an opposing viewpoint in the only format left.

Tell them that the truth often lies between two extreme and contrdictory viewpoints. Since only one viewpoint is ever offered in the major media, people need to see things like this film to determine for themselves where the truth really lies.

Tell them if they want to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine, then Moore might have to include right wing foamers in his political moviee, but they will have to resign themselves to listening to opposing viewpoints elsewhere. Ask them if they'd like to have the facts Moore has presented be the kind of thing they'd also see on the evening news.

My guess is that they'll rethink "balance." It's the last thing they want.

12. That's the same 2nd grade crap you hear from some kid who just got caught
doing something bad, and he/she turns around and says "well, gee whiz. Everybody's doing it!"

Somebody should pick up on her point 7 with "Then we should talk about the reactionary, greedy, hypocritical policies that provoke our enemies to turn on us airplanes flying into buildings, and the imperialist, oil-grabbing, land-grabbing crusade and megalomania that has us occupying somebody else's country and torture some of their innocents, which drives them to such hatred that they grab a few of our guys and commit atrocities. THEN it is even MORE balanced."

13. But the movie DID talk about "those who fly planes into buildings"
quite a lot. Moore questioned why we didn't go after them full force, but invaded Iraq, and provided an explanation in the Saudi connection and oil interests, among other things.

I guess the freeper was out getting popcorn during that part. (And there must have been a looooong line at the concession counter.)

15. This part was my favourite:
8.) I call my ultra-conservative friend. He tells me he was so worried about me that he called a mutual friend. He tells me to go onto the anti-Moore websites.

Gosh, it sounds like a cult.
