I don't trust posters with no profile.
Let's be honest... posters sans profiles are probably trolls. Think about it... what they hiding?

stopthegop had no profile after a 1000+ posts (that made one go hmmmm), he was finally tombstoned. Sorry, I'm no longer going to bother with people with no profiles.

tracking me down and killing me.

3. That seems like a reasonable conclusion.
It isn't like there could be any other plausable explanation or anything.

21. No profile is often a result of being bitten once too often
Edited on Thu Jun-24-04 04:41 PM by Nikki Stone 1
I keep my profile private. This is not because I have any malicious intent. It is a reasonable way of protecting oneself on a fairly open board.

Not sure I want anyone to "bother with" me anyhow though so no loss.

14. Yup.
I took some stuff out of mine.

I'd hate to have to ventilate some poor bastard who happened to find out where I live and then made the mistake of setting foot on my property without my permission.

5. Don't be so quick to judge
What with a DUer getting fired after a Freeper fingered him, some people are quite leery of letting any information out. I don't blame them. Some of us work in sensitive jobs, and it is probably best not to let out any personal information.

Besides, I always look at a troll or freeper as a chance to convert. You never know.

10. My profile is disabled
because the internet is an open zoo, and there are things with claws wandering around.

Two DUers that I know of got in trouble at their jobs for posting stuff here, and one got fired. I'll keep my privacy intact, thanks, and tell Bush to go fuck himself without worrying about having to update my resume.

I'm sorry you won't be dealing with me.

I was trying to "hide" where I live. People who are in small communities with lots of rwing nuts who are heavily armed and not really bright may not want to display info. that might make them more of a target. Ya know.

I understand why some don't want to fill them out but it seems like everyone who's been tombstoned had no profile filled out.

33. Actually, I've wondered the same thing.
I have noticed that many newbies who act suspiciously don't have profiles. You can put next to nothing on your profile so I don't see the big deal in having something there.

26. There Is One Person Here
Has a profile, even has a star, but every single one of their comments seems to be right of center. They have a fairly low post count, and I've been waiting to see the tombstone but it never comes.

I must not have paid a lot of attention to the poster you mentioned, although one of his posts today did raise my eyebrows a bit. When I see that "1000+" I generally shrug it off.

30. I don't have a profile. Here's why.
It's a dangerous world. Someone could not like something I say and go after me, figuring out things about me from the profile.

A freeper or troll can just make up anything in a profile, anyway.

Well, I may have SOMETHING in my profile, but not much. I don't remember.

32. I think everyone
should have some sort of profile, even if it's whether you're a female or a male. I get mistaken for a male a lot because I have an ambiguous screen name, and keep Richard Dean Anderson as my personal icon. (No wonder I get so many "enlarge your penis" spam mails!!!)

What can be wrong with at least a gender clarification? It's not like old times when writers and artists had to pretend to be males in order to succeed. Oh, wait a minute--that's coming back under the Bush administration!!!

It not like your profile requires your full name and street address to appear.

With an Avatar Image, gender, a posting name, City & State, someone can track you down? Sure.

But if you want to judge me, accuse me of trolling and blow me off because of it, it's just as well 'cuz it seems that you might be painting with too wide a brush and my knee-jerk reaction is to quote Cheney's recent outburst on the Senate floor.

You can put me on "Ignore" now if you like.

45. Locking......
There is no rule that says one must
complete his/her profile. Insinuating
that anyone who does not have a
completed profile is a disruptor is a
rules violation.

Speculation about why someone was
tombstoned is inappropriate.

Thank you.
