Don't Let This Blockbuster Story Die! (+ View Video)
This could have been the story that made the difference in this election. It was buried,...Duh!

COMPLICIT OMISSIONS
TvNewsLIES.org - June 2004

The story that should have shattered the eardrums of a sleeping public was reported as if it had been an insignificant weather report.

The selective reporting of the American mainstream media is no longer a contestable issue. During the three and a half years of the Bush presidency, an unprecedented number of vital news stories potentially damaging to the administration have been ignored, underreported or misrepresented by the major news sources available to the public. But this week, the media have outdone themselves in spades. The story that should have shattered the eardrums of a sleeping public was reported as if it had been an insignificant weather report. A magnitude 5 hurricane was downgraded to a passing drizzle as George W. Bush was once again protected by a restrained and submissive media. The standard prevailed: bad news for George W Bush is hardly any news at all.

The story in question is about an unprecedented event in American political history, and involves a group that calls itself the Diplomats & Military Commanders for Change. The story is about a unique bipartisan coalition of 27 career chiefs of mission and retired four-star military leaders who launched a nationwide campaign to effect a change in U.S. foreign and defense policy. The story is about their deep concern that the Bush Administration has caused irreparable damage to our national and international interests. But the story made hardly any news at all...

1. Except that when this sort of thing is pointed out to
Joe Q Freeper, he says "I don't believe that. If it was ture the real news would have carried the story."

2. that's why
most dems have been foregoing mainstream media except a few brave souls like Lou Dobbs(who has really changed since 2001)and the Daily Show is taking on a life of it's own. Also AAR is a player regardless of what is written about it's imminent failure, which AIN'T gonna happen with a certain hardworking lady on-board Randi will NOT fail.

13. It was a story for five minutes.
The media will not stress anything that puts Bush in a bad light. They will continue to distort and discredit anything as dramatic as this.
BTW. I hope you people read the accompanying article that has been on Michael Moore's Must Read page for two days.... It's a challenge to the NYTimes for it's complicity in all the Bush lies...

3. I heard about that in the news. Even CNN reported it.
But it seems to have disappeared now.

6. Yes it was probably
briefly reported on all networks. The one I saw(NBC, I think) was literally a sentence or two long, with no video or actual quotes from the 27 individuals. Fifteen seconds tops. As the article points out, that is not adequate coverage for a story of this magnitude. The press knows how to downplay anything that reflects on *, and they do so every time.

4. Sorry, what is the story exactly. I read the links but I seem to be...
...missing the point. What are these 27 ex-military people saying specifically that Bush is responsible for doing or not doing? What has been the "irreparable damage" done by BushCo? Details and specifics are not outlined anywhere in the links. I know BushCo have been deceiving us, but I think it's time we hear about what exactly they have done that puts America in grave danger. I'm all ears.

5. For those of us
Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 10:33 AM by senseandsensibility
that have been media watchers since at least the 2000 selection, this is nothing new. The mainstream press, ALL mainstream press, simply ignores story after story that reflects badly on *, and they have been doing so in tandem since the chimp first came on the scene. This lack of coverage of anything negative about * is no accident. It is the result of our media concentrated in the hands of a few rich individuals who want the tax advantages provided by *. That's it in a nutshell. It's bacically bribery. The only thing about this that may be surprising to some is that the media is STILL as much in *'s pocket as ever. This story came out only last week, and the press once again proved how far they will go to protect their sugar daddy. So despite the optimistic claims by some posters that the media is finally turning against the chimp or his administration, it appears that it will continue whoring until it gets what it wants: another * term, and another tax break.

9. I read that several active duty Admirals
are at the center of an anti Neocon Coup.

They said "Our job is to PROTECT the constitution and the United States - Not the President or Secretary of Defense."
