Leahy chews Ashcroft and spits him out
"Mr. Attorney General, I must speak frankly about an issue that has emerged as a basic problem during your tenure. There are two words that succinctly sum up the Justice Department's accountability and its cooperation with congressional oversight on your watch. Those two words are "sparse" and "grudging." Even those of us who have served through several presidents cannot recall a worse performance record when it comes to responsiveness."

Read on. It's amazing how terrible a leader and facilitator AG Ashcroft is.

3. Been hearing a lot lately...
about how Ashcroft is the most ineffective and counterproductive AG in recent memory.

His sole claim to fame is that he makes Mitchell look good by comparison.

Thanks patriotvoice! :hi:

<snip>
(Senator Leahy: )
Interrogation techniques approved by the Department of Justice have led to abuses that have tarnished our nation's reputation and likely given strength and driven hundreds, if not thousands, of new recruits to our enemies;

Your department turned a Canadian citizen over to Syria who was tortured;

Documents have been classified, unclassified, and reclassified to score political points rather than for legitimate national security reasons;

Statistics have been manipulated to exaggerate the department's success in fighting terrorism; and

The threat of another attack on U.S. soil remains high, although how high depends on who, in the administration, is talking and what audience they are addressing.

5. so proud of my contribution to Leahy!
Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 12:18 AM by Lady Texan
Howard Dean asked me to throw a little monetary support behind Leahy, and I am so glad I sent him a healthy contribution.

Thank you Sen Leahy for doing the job of the people (especially us poor disenfranchised folks in Texas)!!!

6. That Leahy is a Pistol!
Hope that Ashcroft gets nailed to the boards - Deceitful Cretinous fundic dangerous freak he is.
Recall when he got all in a knot over the justice statue boob and ordered drapes to 'cover' the lady. What a total AsscraftHole.

8. Lady Texan - I sympathize with your plight.
Mississippi, my state, is hopeless too, but you have had to live with that fact that weed boy was your governor before he was our prez.
We in Mississippi have the next GOP wonder boy, newly elected to ruin our state. Any words of encouragement or wisdom you might have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your support of Leahy!

7. ashcroft did lose to a
dead guy (my apologies to the Carnahans) in Missouri before bush appointed him to Attorney General.

Recycled him into that spot..his record sounded horrendous to begin with and I guess he wasn't up to the challenge.

11. I swear,
everytime I see Ashcroft, I look for an armband or some
insignia with a Swastika on it. Anyone else have that
feeling?

12. No.
As a former Missouri resident, I just think of him as an asshole. Always has been. Always will be. Jeez, he's too damn blatant to be a nazi!

13. From inside reports I've heard...
Ashcroft is not only chewy but full of gristle and fat.

Both he and his policies are inedible and difficult to swallow unless you're a blind 'publican party lemming.

Do I sound bitter? I think I'm coming off as bitter.
