Got a call from the Washington Post
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 07:50 PM by Mari333
They wanted some sources of information from military family members and are doing a story on the military families being denied access to Dover AF Base when their loved ones come home in a casket.
I gave the guy some sources of information and I also gave him a diplomatic earful on the LACK of press coverage on Secondary Post Traumatic Stress Disorder thats eating up the military families right now in the USA..I also (while I had him on the phone) told him to get his paper to cover the PTSD of the soldiers and the LACK of mental health care not only for the soldiers who come back, but also the LACK of mental health care for the families who are going thru hell right now (and have been going thru HELL since this fake war for profit started)
PS...the Post journalist was quite delighted to hear that the soldiers at Abu Ghraib silently protested when Rumsfield visited in his fancy helicopter, and they called Rumsfield a "p*ssy"
If I get a journalist on the phone, I always give them an earful..
Strike while the iron is hot.
Bring the troops HOME NOW

Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 07:52 PM by Mari333
we get mental health care in the state if we dont make much money..and we dont...we are lucky...I hope it lasts..hes fine, and better..its a roller coaster ride when we dont hear from Michael
Michael wrote, said hes okay, keeping a journal of his experiences.
They must have them hunkered down behind concrete bunkers at Abu Ghraib.
He doesnt say much in the email , except "I love you" and tells us not to worry about him.
My 2 nephews joined the Marines, and the Army Infantry..NO JOBS...
Bush admin is getting kids signed up because there are NO JOBS...
the bastard.
The f*cking bastard.
eDIT TO ADD:
Guess how they allow the soldiers to take a 2 week leave????? Michael told us they throw their names into a hat (hundreds of soldiers) and then only 16 names are picked...and every time they do this the soldiers pray their name gets picked so they can visit their families..for 2 weeks..
Give me a FOOKING BREAK!!!

seems somehow the guy got my name...hell, if it worked , good..I grab reporters and journalists by the behind and let them know whats not being covered if they ever call...
Theres so much out there for them to cover!! If they want to win the Pulitzer then cover the truth and cover as much as they can!
Now if the cable corporate whores would just stop shilling for Bush and his buddies, we might get somewhere..........

10. Good for you...Tell the press how the families of our Military feel....not
...how "They" tell the press what the families want....

I'm new to the DU (since 7 weeks) but I have seen some of your postings and was happy to learn there are family members of those brave men and women serving our country...I think every day about the horrors they and the Iraqi people are all going through, and the stresses that you the families go through.

Ofcourse the other "untold" story from this administration is the cutting of Veteran's benefits and meanwhile the 1000's of soldiers coming back wounded and psychologically injured from this horrible nightmare the neo-cons started.

We always hear in the media how the troops support their "Commander in Chief" and how the military vote traditionally goes with the Republicans...I keep wondering if that is going to be true this election, so I have hope when I see postings like this that you and others are voting for Kerry....

11. Glad this will get
some coverage. I am still VERY disgusted with the Senate voting to continue the ban on media coverage of those our regime has helped murder, what a bunch of spineless and useless hacks.
