Has Fahrenheit 9/11 been officially rated R or PG-13 yet?
Checked a local theatre and lists R with ID required.

I heard talk of having the R reduced to PG-13 this week.

7. Saw a commercial a bit ago that said Not Yet Rated
I have never heard one like it... "This film is not yet rated...starts Friday." The film starts in three days and the rating isn't settled yet? Is the MPAA waiting for A$$KKKroft to hand down his decision?

9. I wonder what would happen
if I bought a block of tickets and sold them at face value to teens wanting to see the movie? It's a voluntary rating system, so I don't think it's technically against the law to do so.

11. Do you have any idea of why it would be rated R?
I understand that there may be footage from the invasion and I'm assuming language. I'm just concerned about taking my youngest 2 to see a movie that has a R rating.

12. If I were Moore, I would ask what needs to be taken out of the
film for it to receive a PG-13 rating.

Also, I find it so amazing how much nudity, heterosexual sex, homosexual sex can be included in movies and get PG-13 but if there is any violence (and this is what is showed on the news at times), they go crazy.

I just yesterday watched "Death Becomes Her" on TBS which is a subscription channel; however, they are not cable. The character who has the serum they all go to to drink, gets out of a pool, and you see her whole backside.

Also, say "shit" and you'll get bleeped off; however, say "bitch" and that's okay.

No rhyme or reason to these people and their decision.

27. The reason for the 'R'
Lots of graphic violence. Battlefield scenes and even a beheading. Not young kids fare.

Also soldiers singing along with that "Roof Is On Fire" song (with the "Burn Motherf**ker Burn" repeated several times.

I expected an 'R' for this. Bowling For Columbine was also rated 'R'. It does sound like something kids should see, though. Just like "Shindler's List".

16. I am reminded of an editorial cartoon of yore...
It depicted a movie set and a male with a female star in skimpy clothing.

The director is crying out, "Wait! Wait! Wait! We need the PG-13 rating, so don't fondle her chest, SHOOT her in the chest!"

Of course, there's more than that issue at work here.

19. some truth in that
There are many movies rated 'R' in the US, but FSK6 or FSK12 in Germany - and vice-versa.

And of course European films, even those rated 'all Ages' in Europe, get rated 'R' frequently.

18. CUOMO WAS NOT ALLOWED INTO THE HEARING !!!
Cuomo was on-board with Moore advocating the PG-13 rating on behalf of the movie. He said on Blitzer, that they ruled that no lawyers were allowed into the final decision making process. Cuomo is a lawyer, so was not allowed in. But...

Cuomo stated that lawyers HAD been let into past hearings on past movie ratings!!!

:grr::nuke::mad:

MM must really have them shaking in their booties, no???

I CERTAINLY HOPE SO!

22. Kids sneak in to R
movies all the time. Lots of theaters are quite lax about enforcing the rule.

Someone needs to start some kind of organized campaign for an adult to be stationed at theaters to "sponsor" otherwise underage kids who want to see the movie. Should be fairly easy.

But going to see sex and violence versus a political documentary?

Not so sure this will boost teen attendance.

28. Why is it so important that kids as young as 13 see this film?......
Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 01:14 PM by BigDaddyLove
In my opinion, an 'R' rating is sufficient....as long as those who are old enough to vote get to see it, I think the film will accomplish it's mission.

Further, I feel that more people will see it on DVD than in the theaters anyhow, and once it hits the video market the 'R' rating is meaningless.
