This effing pipeline issue AZ Pipeline Break is about to drive me insane! We typically have higher than normal gas prices here anyway, but unleaded is climbing towards $2/gallon with no relief in sight!

Plus, I heard yesterday that Kinder Morgan of Houston stopped the reopening of the pipeline (it was cleared for 80% capacity) based on a 1996 inspection report that they're not sharing the results of. Maybe they have a good reason or maybe they've been negligent in maintenance of the pipeline? In some places it's less than 2ft. underground and a 4 mile section has 15 patches on it!

The news this morning was not good as it's expected that it'll take another 7-10 days before KinderMorgan will reopen the line. $3/gallon here we come!

Oh, and get this... KMP used to be ENRON PIPELINE! KMP History The predecessor company to KMP was Enron Liquids Pipeline, L.P., which was formed in August of 1992. That company was taken public as a Master Limited Partnership (MLP) on the New York Stock Exchange under the "ENP" ticker, which has since been changed to "KMP."

Son of a bitch!

7. Prices have shot up 30% in 4 days around here...
...and no relief in sight.

Plus, now that this revelation of the 1996 pipeline inspection has come to light, I'm really curious as to the fallout.

COL adjustment of $2/gal in the bay area is probably close to $1.30-$1.40/gal here.

11. $2.07 here - northern Calif.
However, if you happen to belong to Costco, gas was $1.91 yesterday so I filled up.

Needless so say, I don't drive a whole lot. :(

Good thing I filled up yesterday, just before the big blackout--no doubt the price will rise here too.

10. Hey- that's what we're paying
Of course most cars here don't need as much gas as the average American car.

12. It's about 3.09/gallon in this part of Japan
Edited on Fri Aug-15-03 12:45 PM by Art_from_Ark
and about 15 cents less at self-service stations.

At this rate, gas will soon be as expensive in the US as here-- and Japan has to import 99% of its petroleum.
