2. They might try it, but I don't see it flying
I do expect they will use it as an excuse to further deregulate the energy industry and push is good corporate buddies' schemes

4. "Marketplace" is saying the blackout will hurt.
Traders won't be able to get to Wall Street, a couple of refineries were closed becaus of no power, thus there will be fuel shortages (and higher prices), the auto industry lost production, the airlines will be hurting because of cancelled flights...

Yeh, they're spinning this to be the worst thing since the 1929 market crash...

Oh, but Chimpy has ruled out "Terra". Isn't that good? What a relief. Eat some Freedom Fries (if you can find a place with hot grease)

6. The traders will get to Wall Street
The Stock Exchange is open, and the traders will get there somehow. There's always taxis, and the PATH trains are running, I understand.

Doesn't mean Bush won't use it as an excuse.

In fact, we should have a pool on when he does.

8. Penn Station just shut down again for now
CNN said they had a few trains running on a backup generator, but their generator just failed, so they just shut down again.

5. They can try it, but...
...it'll be obvious horsedump.

It happened for one day, at the end of the normal workday. It's no more (and probably less) crippling than the occasional blizzard. It may be dramatic, but overall it's just a blip on the economy.

And in the days to come, spending on portable generators, replenishing (or establishing) emergency supplies, etc. may even make it a net gain, numbers-wise.
