No more red, white, and blue.
As I was driving home today, I noticed the obvious absence of flags hanging off people's homes or in their yards. I remember last year driving by places and seeing flags everywhere.
My town is neither largely conservative or largely democratic. So what gives? Are people upset with the general state of America today, or just too lazy to put up a flag?
Maybe the tide really IS turning.

2. the disturbing thing is...
... that sort of thing breeds apathy, and apathy is exactly the right ingredient that bushco needs to stay in power.

the more people stay home in November, the worse off all of us are.

3. The tide is really turning
I noticed the begining of that, in an obvioous way, with the
break up of the Abu Ghraib Scandal

5. I think people are getting sick of the flag suckers
Too many fundies or neo-fascist using the flag to mask their march toward a religious and corporate tyranny.

I'm getting a revolutionary/Betsy Ross style flag to fly in front of my house. I'm encouraging everyone I know to do the same as symbol of the fight to return America to it's secular and liberal roots.

8. You might want to reconsider that...
I think that some neo-Nazi groups also use the original 13 star flag as a symbol of the "white-men-only" America they want to have. I'm not saying you're one of them, but you might be sending the wrong message with the 13 star flag. I'd go with the "Don't tread on me" one personally.

10. I think he's right
I remember seeing a history on the Neo-nazi movement in the US, and I remember that they didn't always use the "normal" flag. It may have been the thirteen star one.

15. The one with the snake?
You may not have noticed but the neo-Nazis are now using the current American flag.

Besides any use of our original revolutionary flag will inevitably lead to discussions of our enlightened founding fathers. The Betsy Ross flag has too much history to be hijacked by neo-nazis or neo-cons.

6. I've noticed the absence, too.
OTOH, I'm a PROUD Kerry supporter as well as a proud flag flyer.

The jingoist pukes should never be allowed to coopt the flag for their own purposes... that flag is ours - it belongs to all of us.

11. People are starting to realize Kerry might become President.
And they want to absolve themselves of any responsibility for 'supporting America' and 'supporting the President' long before that happens.

Can you imagine the horror of being a die-hard conservative Republican and having an 'I Support the President' bumper-sticker on your SUV the day after Kerry wins?

12. Increase of flags in Phoenix
Here in Phoenix, I've noticed the opposite of what you have noticed. Cars are suddenly putting them back on and I've seen quite a few very large flags hanging from homes. I wonder what's different about our city than others?

13. Could it be
that because of * a lot of people are just too poor to buy a new flag and don't want to put up an old tattered flag? That seems to be the case with a lot of people around here.

14. Take Back the Flag
Now is the time for all good progressives to take back the flag. Find a nice American Made flag and fly it proudly. Fly it with a Kerry for President banner near it. Keep it clean, bright, and well lit if you keep it out at night.

Take back the flag. Make it a symbol for the way America was before Shrubco took over, bloodied it with war for oil, torture and unmitigated evil.

16. "Take back the flag" EXACTLY!
Thank you!

:toast:

The flag means a LOT more to me than it does to the average dim-witted rah-rah chickenshit chickenhawk born-again flag waver.
