The saddest picture I've ever seen. I'm not going to post it you'll have
to go to this link:
http://www.news24.com/News24/HomeLite/

I don't want to in any way hurt/harm/disrespect James E Wright so I don't want to post it. Maybe one of you can?

Something I'm pretty sure of, I cry more than ALL of the GOP Leadership combined. I cry more than the Bush Family. And I cry just as much as all their families do.

With reality setting in, I don't see how this boy could solute to an establishment of leaders who don't even know how many of our soldiers have been killed let alone how many have been wounded?

We need a picture. The Commander-in-Chief needs your help.

Edited to add this is the same cynical shit as the picture they snapped of bush* jogging with the one-legged soldier. They either have a peculiar fetish in that party or they want to show the ignorantia that even our blown-up boys love the boss. :puke:

and Armed to the teeth by the USA under Reagan

Sold chemical weapons by the USA

Yes a very very bad man a megalomaniac monster

Who could call America friend for more than 2 decades
until he was no longer useful to American geo-political interests.

The most ludicrous statement I have ever heard is America is bringing Democracy to Iraq. They are bringing death & destruction & Torture to
innocent Iraqi's who happen to live on top of the Worlds second largest OIL supply.

America already has 16 Military bases in Iraq There was no exit strategy because as long as their is Oil in the ME there will be no exit.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Terrorism.

Zero This is about whom ever controls the Worlds Oil supply controls the World.

The Neo cons will do all they can to achieve this.

Remember, they WANT us there. They want our freedom. Can't you hear them, crying out for you? Can't you hear how keenly they crave the zesty taste of liberty?

The fortunes are being made NOW, in case you haven't noticed. Look at Halliburton!

120. I KNOW bush would
that's the difference. And I KNOW Kerry has been IN a war, and a particularly bad one, too, he's experienced it firsthand. Don't you know people who have actually experienced warfare up close and personal are far more realistic about the cost of war, human and otherwise, than people who sat on the sidelines?

As for the Iraqi decision, this was the wrong war. It was an immoral, unjust preemptive, no strike that, PREVENTIVE attack on another country. In other words, it was WRONG. AND to make matters worse, bush and his team has bungled it at every turn. But then we've got people like you who cheer and rah rah like he got third place in the Special Olympics if he so much as says one sentence without screwing it up.

That is NOT the kind of person I want running my country. No thanks.

As for you, have fun, I am going to bed. I am also ending any kind of discussion with you because it was clear to me about ten posts ago which side you are on.

137. Well I've been studying the Middle East
and Middle Eastern policy WRT the United States and Europe since 1990.

Specifically WRT Iraq.

So yeah, I'd say I base my opinions on actual research and not just air. Or talking heads on Fox News or something.

I know what I'm talking about. Down below you spout off about how great the economy was under Reagan. That ALONE makes me wonder if you:

1. Are actually a liberal being very satirical (and good job, if so!)
2. Are mentally unstable
3. Suffered a head injury and are living in an opposite skit.

Dunno. But you lost ALL credibility when you said that. Even my Republican friends don't argue for the economy under Reagan, hell's bells.

clearconscious: "Pick what up? What needs picking. Whats this with meowing and Carter? Reagan's economy helped the country pick up steam which it had lost under Carter. If we didn't have Reagan cutting taxes, Bill Clinton never would've had such a great economy that was actually very bad."

thebigidea: "That's because you've hit upon something relatively trendy, a little thing we like to call cognitive dissonance."

clearconscious: "What's that. Please explain."

thebigidea: "It means whatever some snooty Salon writer wants it to mean."

clearconscious: "Salon? That liberal site? I only read them when they have David Horowitz. He knows what hes talking about."

thebigidea: "He's a raving loon."

clearconscious: "So are you for having a conversation with yourself."

thebigidea: "Well, its late at night and the computer is rendering video. I have to kill time."

rest yourself there buddy. No one is coming to take your guns away from you. No, go back and read that again.

Do you really think people need Uzis and shit like that? I'm a gunowner and I don't.

Is there any legislation pending for taking away handguns and such? Hell, I live in a state where you can get a license and carry them around without needing to even tell anyone about it!

Now, think about this logically, if she was so maniacal, so HELL-bent on removing EVERY gun from EVERY American, don't you think she'd be introducing legislation on it ALL the freaking time until she got it passed?

And even if she DID, what are the chances she'd get it passed?

I'll tell you. Nil. Because even liberals like me own guns and think we have the right to. That's why. So chill out.
So are you a one-issue kinda guy or what?

Careful. You might get caught in a black hole of logic here...

either you buy the spin, that the economy is doing great under Bush - in which case, by your own logic - its due to Clinton.

OR - the economy is doing poorly, which makes all the statements out of the Bush Admin re: the economy a crock of microwaved shit. And also Clinton's fault.

So! Which is it?

I don't think the economy is booming but we are in a steady growth recovery mode coming out of an economic decline that started in 4th qtr 1998. Yes boys and girls 1998. Most people didn't notice it but I did because the e-conomy that the Clinton admin. fostered fell flat on its face AND MORE INNOCENT PEOPLE LOST thier jobs and internet stock money than did in the Enron scandel. High paying jobs, manufacturing, machinists, assemblers, engineers... All the high paying jobs like mine was are slowly going away to China thanks to Clinton. China will grow bigger than we ever will and then we will see who takes over the world.

Who says Kerry won't do the same thing?

73. Here's a resume for you
not complete, of course, but Carter's economic record is stellar by comparison:
George W. Bush Resume

Past work experience:
Ran for congress and lost.

Produced a Hollywood slasher B movie.

Bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas, company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

Bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using tax payer money. Biggest move: Traded Sammy Sosa to the Chicago White Sox.

As governor of Texas:
Changed pollution laws for power and oil companies and made Texas the most polluted state in the Union. Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog ridden city in America. Cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money. Set record for most executions by any Governor in American history.

Became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes, with the help of my fathers appointments to the Supreme Court.

Accomplishments as president:
Attacked and took over two countries.

Spent the surplus and bankrupted the treasury.

Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history.

Set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12 month period.

Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market.

First president in decades to execute a federal prisoner.

First president in US history to enter office with a criminal record.

First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history.

After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in US history.

Set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips than any other president in US history.

In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job. Cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in US history.

Set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12 month period.

Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.

Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television.

Signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any president in US history.

Presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed.

Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have.

Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans.

Set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind.

Dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history.

My presidency is the most secretive and un-accountable of any in US history.

Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (the 'poorest' multi-millionaire, Condoleeza Rice has an Chevron oil tanker named after her).

First president in US history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously go bankrupt.

Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world.

First president in US history to order a US attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation.

Created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States.

Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in US history.

First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the
human rights commission.

First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the elections monitoring board.

Removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of congressional
oversight than any presidential administration in US history.

Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant.

Withdrew from the World Court of Law.

Refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions.

First president in US history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 US elections).

All-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations.
My biggest life-time campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).

Spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in US history.

First president in US history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.

First president to run and hide when the US came under attack (and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force One)

First US president to establish a secret shadow government.

Took the biggest world sympathy for the US after 911, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history).

With a policy of 'dis-engagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years.

Fist US president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.

Changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. Set all-time record for number of administration appointees who violated US law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding for government contracts.

Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive'. Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capitol building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects.

In the 18 months following the 911 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States. Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history.

In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the civil war.

Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

130. Do you actually know what you are talking about here?
Under Reagan we had some of the biggest deficits this country had ever seen (at least until NOW under Chucklenuts who has made Reagan's deficits look puny in comparison!).

Then we got Clinton. And in his first term, he eliminated the deficit (even WITH that Repug congress, remember???). Then the SURPLUS started. SURPLUS. Remember that? We were billions of dollars in the BLACK. NO ONE HAD DONE THAT. NO one.

Then we got Chucklenuts here. And he quickly FLEW through that surplus and drove us right back down into the red, farther than we've EVER gone. And I thought the deficits under REAGAN were scary. Whew.

Do a little brushing up on this stuff. It seriously scares me that there are people out there like you who believe this stuff.

You might want to check this document out:

136. You are so right
as Dubya & Co. have so successfully proven. But it was Reagan who put us in such debt and Clinton who spent 8 years getting us out of it.

You have been brain washed by misinformed wanta bees.

The GOP is a huge pyramid scam. The GOPs disguises, rationalizations and defenses have a similar ring to that of a pyramid scheme. Perpetrators (the GOP) claim they are uplifting people, setting them free, creating new opportunity, and teaching them a new and better way to live and prosper. As in all such abuses of the past, huge amounts of money are spread to peddle influence, stave off regulation, and maintain the false portrayal of legitimacy. Critics are vilified and threatened with lawsuits as "anti-business" and "losers." The element of the pyramid scheme that has the most in common with past abuses is its appeal to economic justification. Deceptive practices which take money from millions of unwitting people and enrich a small group of promoters and perpetrators are defended as "legitimate business," helping to build the economy, employ people, and provide economic opportunity.

Wasn't it G.W. Bush who let Prince Bandar of Saudia Arabia, an agent of a foreign country, in on the plans for the whole Iraq invasion including the perusal of top secret maps all before the Secretary of State of the United States of America was fully informed? That really instills confidence that Bush's interest lies solely in protecting this country.

And I hate to bring it up again, but Kerry actually volunteered to fight for his country in Vietnam, while Bush flew planes with other rich boys in Texas. Yeah, Bush's record on protecting the country seems so much better. :eyes:

22. Goodness...

Ronald Reagan and Iraqi Foreign Minister Tariq Aziz meet at the White House on November 26, 1984, as the U.S. and Iraq restore diplomatic relations.

between wrong and right. Maybe in the back of my mind I just wanted to save some other children. Hoping that this would make all American demand the troops to come home today. Enough butching for Bush's Lie Vietnam!

40. Not the saddest picture
I've ever seen.

If you happen to be able to spare a few minutes from giving an iota of care about a celebrities love lives I do hope you might spend it finding newsreel footage of the landing on Normandy.

Anything less than that fails to meet my expectations and definition of great American Heroes.

I'm a female and obviously don't have them, but talk about balls? Guts, are generic, but I wouldn't have the guts, I don't think when I was the age of those who died that day. Now, if it came to that, I would gladly go, because I have nothing left to lose.

I don't know about the young man in the photo, but he came back. Maimed, yes, but alive. I hope that he was not "used."To be maimed and used as photo-op propaganda is insult to injury.

And you're worried about Ted Rall?

Show me one person he sent to death.

141. Here's how I take in the picture
I may get blasted for this, but as for me having a family history of service to the country, I feel I have to say this.

All of them that I have talked to say that you learn discipline and respect in the military. Honor and a strong since of duty. As I can see from this man in the picture, he has all of the above. Disciplined enough to not show his personal thoughts, respect for the office, not the individual, the honor of being in the military and knowing that it was his duty to salute a former commander in chief.

No one knows for sure the political tendencies of this man or any of those in the military whether they have losts limbs in a needless war or not. I respect them even more for having the discipline enough to still salute the office and to not let political affiliation show through easily.

I myself would still salute the office, and try damn hard to not to look at it as saluting the person who is in it.

143. No
I was just looking at the picture and calling it from what I saw in the picture. I don't support wolfowitz, or any of the bunch.

Are you saying he was 'escorted' by Wolfie? becuase if it were me I wouldn't have wanted my hand (no offense to the serviceman in the photo) held if that were the case, I would go on my own becuase there is that honor (maybe even a little too much pride) to be led up to an event such as this.

(I'm kind of tired as I type this so sorry if I'm not making much since, I will try to explain better if you don't understand what I am saying)
