Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel columnist writes of the real Reagan

<<Enough already. Enough of the beatification and the warm, fuzzy revisionism. Enough of the bogus notion that he was loved by all and that his policies harmed few. Enough of the overwrought sentimentality.

It's time for a Ronald Reagan corrective.

It's been five days since the 40th U.S. president died. As his coast-to-coast farewell tour drags on, it seems the only voices coming from my television are the ones whose memories of the 1980s come wrapped in gauze. The voices in the real world aren't as unanimous or magnanimous.

"The way I look at it, the guy never did much for the majority of poor people," said George Gipson, 33, of Fort Lauderdale. "My mom struggled during the `80s. It was hard to find a job when he was in that chair."

1. This is the trickle theory...even the media whores (and I should not
say that, I don't know about this paper or the columnist) must be getting fed up with all the slobbering over a 93 year-old who was such a success in screwing American lives.

3. Weren't we..
fighting a war in Iraq? What happened to that? It's like, Reagan died, we should honor Reagan, look at all of the good, shiny(places war in drawer) things Reagan did, don't you all love Reagan. Don't think this is a new strategy...Terrorists are bad, look at what terrorists did, islamic terrorists have single-handedly hurt more Americans then anyother group(places War on Drugs in drawer), let's go to war to stop terrorist.

It's time to start focusing on the issues affecting us today. Reagan's dead. Respect him. Don't stop the nation for five days while the rest of the world continues to move on.
