Limbaugh Lies Again
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 12:04 PM by CO Liberal
Just before the 11AM news break, Limbaugh stated that the very first Executive Order Reagan signed once he was sworn into office was one that froze all federal hiring. I just did a Google search, and found this entry as Reagan's first EO, according to the National Archives web site:

Executive Orders Disposition Tables
Ronald Reagan - 1981
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Executive Order 12287
Decontrol of crude oil and refined petroleum products

Signed: January 28, 1981
Federal Register page and date: 46 FR 9909; January 30, 1981

Note his first EO was dated eight days after he entered office and it had noting to do with hiring - it dealt with a payoff to the oil companies that helped get him elected.

Limbaugh's lies are getting too damn easy to prove......

2. Why do you listen to that guy?
Not criticizing, just don't know how you can physically do it without getting ill every few minutes.

Maybe ESPN is right - numbers will go up....

8. How about...
Help your enemies with higher ratings and big sponser contracts?

Limbaugh is powerless if you don't listen to him and tell other people what he says.

He's just a man who holds NO official office.

In this case, I choose to leave him along and not stuff his pockets with money.

18. there's some advantage to that
When I traveled a lot in sales, I would listen to Limbaugh instead of"Garden Talk" on WPR (only until Chapter A Day came on).

Amazingly I would hear my clients parroting Limbaugh lines literally within hours of those lines being spoken. Remember I traveled a very conservative part of Wisconsin...right near the home of "Tail Gunner Joe" McCarthy. I found being able to step on Limbaugh's lies useful and humous.

5. Ughhh damnit
I forgot... Sunday Night COuntdown has been one of my favorite shows since 1997. I watched it EVERY sunday morning before the football games came on, now I have to see Limpballz ass on there. :argh: ESPN lost one viewer, but I will tune in the first episode to see what he is like as a "football expert"

3. Who's limbaugh?
Oh right, sorry. He's a fat entertainer with no brains, no credibility, who has a tawk show on AM radio -- a communications medium on par with horse and buggy -- just like his ideals.

Buh bye limbaugh!

9. He's all that and...
he has scores of people that hang on his every word, true, false or stretched. That makes him a force with which to be reckoned. Years of ignoring him and his ilk and saying that he is just a bunch of hot air is partly responsible for our current governmental nightmare. People LISTEN to him, and until we provide and alternative, they are going to KEEP listening.

13. AND he has scores of people out there who quote
him word for word because they believe that he is an intelligent person, based soley on the fact that he tells them what they want to hear, he supports their racist, classist, social darwinist worldview with all these erroneous pseudo-facts.

I appreciate someone taking the time to debunk his arguments, I think it is important.

One thing liberals need to get over and behind us is our tendency to discount whole groups of people that we think we are smarter than. Limbaugh's fan base is these people, and if they are not willing to check his facts and verify his assertions then someone needs to.

16. Nah. stop giving him so much credit. It's a false validation... If WE
continue to not validate his bullshit, others follow along.

He's a fat, washed up tawk show entertainer on a medium on par with the horse and buggy. That's ALL you have to say to ANY thing ever uttered about or by him. Just dismiss it without further editorial.

With Limbaugh, the fact that he made a claim is proof enough that he is lying.

12. typical Rush listener
The niche is disappointed people, mostly men. Andrew Kohut, the highly regarded pollster for Times-Mirror, has described "the typical Limbaugh listener" as a "white male, suburbanite, conservative better-than-average job but not really a great job. Frustrated with the system, with the way the world of Washington works. Frustrated by cultural change. Maybe threatened by women."

Somebody, in short, who is not as rich, powerful or famous as he thinks he should be, and who wants to blame outside forces. The talk-show hosts help. They blame cultural (but rarely economic) elites and the government for the world's ills and regularly reinforce the listener's sense of being scorned and ridiculed.

15. the suburban "Badlands" maybe?

"All men want to be rich
Rich men want to be King
And the King ain't satisfied 'til he rules everything"
(Bruce Springsteen)

People whose sense of entitlement has outgrown their circumstances and who have absolutely no appreciation for the fact that they have a higher standard of living than most of the rest of the world and most of human history. The glass is always half empty and leaking, and they want to blame the people with less than they have instead of facing the fact that it is their fellow white guys with more money and power that are sucking them dry.
