How many DUers actually read the freeper forums?
As entertaining as it probably is, I'm sure reading it would just make me mad, and further progress my ulcer.

But I really am curious, how many of you guys actually do read the forums at freerepublic.com?

2. Probably just as well
We probably couldn't get onto any of those shows.... they tend to weed out dissenting points of view. O'Reilly sometimes lets through some hateful emails that make all of us look bad, but never anything with substance.

3. Rarely...
I go over there every so often just to see what they think ona particular subject. However, when i read them I usualy have to read such BS that I want to dearly respond. it's like listening to a blind man try to convince you the sky is yellow. You can't help but want to correct him...

Of course, then as I respond i soon realize (again) that 90% of these guys are morons. They will happily use biased and wrong sources, ignore any "inconvenient facts", ignore when you disprove thier sources and basicly accuse you of being stupid and partisan becuase..well, just becuase you want to base your opinions off of facts or logic instead of accepting what they say at face value.

it's hopeless. They are willfully ignorant and quite frankly, my faith in humanity has taken enough punishment as of late...

5. I have to admit something
After having links to Free Republic constantly posted here, I finally did take a look at what they were saying. It really did make me, literally, sick to my stomach. I was also fascinated, since I love a challenge. I registered and have gone back several times. They seem to like me. I have never said anything hypocritical, but mostly ask questions. If I can, I point out small inconsistencies. I know I wouldn't last two minutes there, if I really came out with my own opinions. I mainly solicit theirs. Sometimes they have have been thoughtful and informed me. As a liberal, I welcome information and the opportunity to learn. Most of the time, however, what they have had to say has made me sick and I feel rather unclean when I return here.:puke:

7. Maybe we have met up with each other
though I doubt it, as I go there, rarely, as well. I did, in response to a link posted on DU, just the other day, so it was fresh in my mind. I got several responses to my posts, so went back the next day. I should check in to see what the response was to my last posts. I dare not name the subject, but they seem almost reasonable on anyone but Clinton. They are really fixated on him.

22. FreeRepublic is mostly libertarians
mixed with a faction of fundies. The first thing you notice is the outright unambiguous bigotry and racism - they go on and on about "blacks and Mexicans" - they hate gays, and since 911 you are allowed to openly call for mass murder of Arabs and Muslims. There used to be a big strain of anti-semitism, but they have really cracked down on dissenting opinions since Bush was selected.

It used to be an interesting forum to read debates between libertarians and fundies, but now it's just 100% rah-rah Bush and Republicans all the time.

Want to have some fun at FR, post a thread about outsourcing jobs - this is an issue the GOP hopes stays real real quiet next election - of course, many Democrats do as well.

I've been reading FR since the beginning, since the late 1990s, but they usually ban me after just a few posts, even though I follow their rules to the letter.

Everyone should check it out, know your enemy.

I always imagine some wimpy nerd dressed in too large camouflage dungarees, barricaded in his bomb shelter, caressing his gun, with a picture of a blue-eyed, blonde haired, Jesus on the wall, having the shit scared out of himself while reading the latest doings of the fearsome Hillary or Satan inspired liberals.

44. Diversity ...
There is a broad diversity of folks over there, but there is certainly a clique that resembles that remark. I have never been in a religious debate on FR, that I can recall. I'm not a gun-nut, but I *would* like to have a bomb shelter, with a refrigerator and a stereo. I've had the shit scared out of me a few times, but never by Hillary.

That place used to be the libertarian counter-culture capital of the web.

16. I flip between DU and FR depending on what's posted as topics
and I survived on FR for a while as a poster because I didn't do anything that would automatically tag me as a disruptor, i.e. calling Bush a retarded drunk who probably can't even zip up his pants.

Funnily enough, the post that did get me banned was one arguing that the whole "Saddam tortures his people" secondary justification for invading was a sham since we obviously didn't seem too bothered by it when Reagan and Bush were in power.

Must have pissed off someone with that comment because after that I had my account cancelled.

18. AOL Forums can be just as bad....
Usually when a big story that is embarassing to the GOOP breaks, I make a dash for the FR and AOL forums and get my share of Monkey spinning. You're guaranteed to see Rush's talking points hours before he hits the mike.

I'm registered on FR but have never posted (as you can see, I'm not a big poster)...but find the wingnut boards to be like going to a carnival. The hypocrisy of these goons is incredible...especially if you've been following these morons for as long as I have.

AOL boards used to be a lot wilder (there were some that were completely unmoderated) but you'll still find a lot of Clinton-hate there (I'm never ceased to be amazed at how many of the evil things in the world two people from Arkansas could do) as well as never-ending shots at "algore" (virtually a universal spelling now) and anything that isn't Faux News or Washington Times.

My biggest fun with a couple was the recent flap with Geraldo. Some of these people trashed him unmercifly when he was Clinton's biggest cheerleader, but gave him a big-time pass (some even want him to replace Greta Facelift) when he gave away troop positions live on the air. I wonder if they "freeped" his recent wedding...LOL

29. you betcha....
I don't post at FreeRep. or any of the other sites. It's helpful to to be informed on where they are coming from; what they are saying.

They have their crazies; we have ours. They don't argue amongst themselves to the degree we do. We're far more facile in our observations. They are cynical in a different way then leftists. Once you de-code their veneeer of BS/bravura, you can get at their core-value(s)and develop rebuttals. We dismiss them as marching in lock-step but it wins them elections. I don't find myself persuaded by their arguments but being a true liberal, I "allow" them to be made and give them a fair hearing, at least in my own head. They do NOT return the compliment. That's why I don't post.

I wish more posters here had a stomach for REAL opposition research. You can learn so much.

36. I have to wince when someone calls themselves a 'true liberal'...
...in the context of discussing FReeperVille.

- They don't 'argue amongst themselves' because no one can join their 'club' without first agreeing to ignore or revise history to match their preconceived notions and prejudices.

- They will rant and rave about Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich...but become deaf and dumb when someone shows them the evidence that Poppy Bush pardoned a convicted heroin dealer and those who could testify against him about Iran/Contra. This glaring double-standard and disconnect with reality is a 'trademark' of the FReeper mentality. They can never seem to explain why Republican presidents are held to a much lower standard.

- It's a self-destructive personality trait to subject yourself to this 'cult' of denial. Take a walk or read a book instead.

and sometimes for entertainment, (and it is) I go into the debate politics chatroom that is filled with RWingers under the name LRiefenstall. They don't get it and call me a commie and pinko and then I get bored with the typical namecalling (de-sensitized) and sign off. Lately it has been Fauxnewssucks. They don't like that one either.

One thing about Freepers is that when they call you names or try to bully or insult your they are really talking about themselves. Big time PROJECTION.
