50TH Anniversary
this week of US/British overthrow of Mossadegh
in Iran for the purpose of restoring British
control of Iranian oil. That put the Shah in
power for 26 years (did our Shah match or pass
Hussein in the torture of his own people?),
leading to the Iranian Revolution of 1979,
the hostages (taken in part out of fear that the
Shah's entrance into the US was the first step
of *another* coup against Iran), the rise of
Islamic fundamentalism, Iranian-sponsored terrorism,
the US backing of Iraq & Hussein against Iran in
that war, the entrenchment of Hussein in power,
Kuwait, Gulf War, Iraq War, hello.
Does what goes around ever stop coming around?

1. Like today. It's all about OIL.
The Iranian people, on the whole, are good people. Overthrowing their PM in 53 benefitted the cretinous ghouls in the British monarchy and their toadies in America, the Bush Organized Crime Family. Those scum will do anything and anyone to get their greedy claws on real property.

2. Communism!
was the ostensible reason we went in in 1953.
Truman had balked at the overthrow of Mossadegh,
but soon as Ike got in, the Dulles boys got
involved. The British played the commie card,
just like Bush played the terrorist card. I
remember in the 1980 campaign when Teddy K brought
up our installation of the Shah & the Shah's
torture of his own people, and Teddy was skewered
by the press. How could he bring up such an awful
thing when our hostages were being held! Plus, it
can't be true, can it? We would not put in & back
a brutal dictator who tortures his own people, would we?
Kennedy and nobody else at the time brought it up again.
