Palast on The Majority Report
coming up next. At least I think he is. I was just walking in the room as they were going to a break, and believe I heard Palast's name mentioned.

8. I wish Garofalo would learn how to pronounce "Palast."
The accent is on the FIRST syllable, not the second! :grr:

And he's been unGoogled.

13. it appears to be stripped from the NEWS search
However the seach for "palast" does bring up the article under that title and others, so the search for "KILLER, COWARD, CON-MAN" is in fact being blocked. The data is there, but that search fails.

Greg Palast's site is #6 on the list.

He say's he's been degoogled and claimed it as some sort of honor, but I went to google and punched it into google and its there.

17. Right - But that works only within the general "web" search
Edited on Mon Jun-07-04 09:03 PM by bumbler
Doing the same search from the "News" search page gives nothing, even though the article is on several of the news sites included in the google news database.

Edit to add: Greg Palast's site does not appear at all when "palast" is searched within the "news" interface. I don't know if his site and articles were previously linked there, but his site is definitely omitted from the search on his name, and the search using the article title yields zip even though it can be found (on other sites) by more a circuitous search.

12. Maybe he's a fraud
On another note, Jeanine's use of the word "cracker" will probably turn off some listeners.

14. I didn't even know what the word meant so I went and checked:
a poor white person in the southern United States
www.cogsci.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/webwn

Originally the white slave driver because he would "crack" the whip, hence the noun cracker.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cracker

Besides being somebody that breaks into computer systems illegally. But I guess this would not be an insulting term.

I can see why people would feel offended by the term.

16. The things you learn on DU
I never knew about the origin of the word "cracker". I always knew that, for reasons unknown (to me, anyway) it was considered more insulting and offensive than "redneck". Now I understand.

Gore used to be very conservative and represented the RW of the Democratic Party - before he found his soul.

I thought it was interesting when Greg talked about how GE propped up Reagan as a front man for the big corporations.

If you turn on NBC, CNBC, or MSNBC, all you see is a gushing Reagan lovefest.

I also remember reading an article about how Karl Rove had made a deal with GE to prop up * and perpetuate the myths that Gore was a liar.
