After what they pulled with Wellstone, let's watch what they do w/ Reagan

If they politicize his death, we need to cry foul. The speeches at Wellstones funeral were ones of sadness and inspiration. They were not political. If anything is said in favor of the Republican Party at Reagan's funeral time, we should publically demand free time.

2. I will be watching
I am more and more inclined to think that it will not be politicized. I just don't think Nancy, Patty and Ron Jr. will permit it (Michael is a different story). But if they choose to go down that route we should be prepared to flood the RNC with phone calls.

3. yes, there was sadness and inspiration
at Wellstone's memorial, heartfelt emotions for a genuinely good man who was snatched away in the prime of life. The funeral speeches were naturally full of raw emotion and the repukes turned the horror of his sudden death into a greater nightmare. I hated them all the more for pissing on Wellstone.

As for Reagan, he had his day (and used it to make things bad or worse for many), he had the gift of years, and flame me, but his time was due. You know they will politicize this; that's what they do. But I won't be crying foul because I can't stomach watching their Reagan glorification shit. The TV is OFF for the duration.

Excuse me while I find constructive outlets for my rage ...

4. Exactly - The Right Made The Vilification Of Departed Leaders Acceptable

Just like they cry foul when Bush is criticized, they forget how they hounded Clinton.

Now when they cry foul about the criticism of their beatifying Reagan, they forget how they attacked Wellstone's family.

The gloves are off Republicans and Freepers.

We progressives never forget and we will not let you throw this in our face.

If you wanted a nice political world then you should not have done what you did to Clinton and Wellstone.

It's time you tasted your own medicine.

5. The first time Bush mentions Reagan during a campaing stop...
The left should be watching Bush carefully, and the first time he mentions Reagan at a fund raiser or campaign stop, the left should go after him for "politicizing Reagan's death".

After what they did to Wellstone, we cannot let them get away with turning this into a Bush campaign ad.

6. Since Nancy is pissed at W regarding stem cell research, wouldn't
it be a hoot if she, insomany words, tells him to cut the shit out?

7. Here's a prediction from one of my favorite bloggers:

Uh Oh
I've been worried about this. When Ronald Reagan dies, the Right and its media handmaidens are going to go into a fit of maudlin masturbation the likes of which the world has never seen. It will be non-stop GOP triumphalism from dawn to dusk. JFK's funeral will look like a trailer park trash $2,000 special compared to the spectacle we are going to endure for days on end. Lay in a supply of pepto-bismol. It's not in their DNA to handle this with any grace, restraint or class.
And, unfortunately, it will serve to reinforce the delusion that Republicans, even stupid ones, are the right people to lead us on the world stage. Reagan, after all, personally smote communism with one hand tied behind his back. Everybody knows that. And if they didn't before the impending canonization, they soon will. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to take out "evil" before he was forced to retire. Thank Gawd Crusader Codpiece is here to fulfill his legacy.
By the time we're done, The Reagan Cult headed by swami Grover Norquist, will have probably succeeded in renaming the country the Ronald Reagan States of America.
