I predicted this last summer. Probably lots did
I figured: they'll pull the plug on Ronnie when he becomes a necessary distraction and rallying point. Here we are...right on schedule. We can drag out the whole romanticized "Reagan Legacy" and get people all warm and fuzzy.

WE ARE AT THE VANGUARD! WE MUST NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS! Bush lied, people died. Bush has destroyed the America we used to have.

As much as we disagreed with Reagan, he pales in sheer evil to the currrent crop. I'm going to HATE to see these current bastards eulogize him.

1. yeah
93 year old men with advanced alzheimers never die naturally. It makes perfect sense to have him offed 5 months before the election.

Geez, yesterday Reagan himself was smarter than some of the people here.

3. have you ever been around Alzheimers patients?
in advanced stages they can deteriorate so they are only kept alive through venilators and tube feeding. I can easily see them using this. If it's too close to the election, actually is counterproductive. But right in the midst of an election year summer next to commemoration of D-Day? Too suspicious.

Never underestimate your enemy, dookus. The way these people are treating us..they qualify as one of the enemy.

5. One
you presume that somehow the Bush operatives can sneak past Nancy and the Secret Service.

Then you presume that doing this in early June actually helps Bush.

Both nonsense presumptions. The man was friggin' 93 years old! He died. It's that simple.

8. Yesterday Reagan was smarter than the people HERE? On DU????
You must be really smokin' or drinkin' heavily to make that statement!

You are cryin' your eyes out over Reagan? My Dad has Alzheimers and he's 96...and loved Ronnie Reagan. He was a mean old man who did lots to hurt his children. When he dies, I will be sad for his death...and look for the "few" good memories of him that I have..because he WAS my FATHER...but I will not overlook his huge flaws and what they did to my family...but I will put a "gardenia branch" on his grave because it's all he gave me..and it's precious to me...although I understand how cruel he was to his family.

To ignore what Reagan wrought and the total distortion of his administration makes some of us hysterical. If you want to honor your memory or Reagan with something more fitting like and "Actors Award" I can understand what you say.

Otherwise your sentiment is very "misplaced" on a site like "DEMOCRATIC UNDERGOUND!" :nuke:

9. Nope
haven't shed a tear.

Never liked the guy.

My point is that claiming that Bush had him whacked is about as dumb an idea as I've ever seen.

15. BUsh wouldn't know anything. The GOP strategists
could talk with Nancy and company about whether they were wanting to end life support or not....they choose to do it now rather than hanging on.

Not murder. Just a politically convenient "wag the Gipper" idea.

2. I thought he was as bad as it could get
until this guy we got now. I expected it to come during out convention so at least that's one thing out of the way. Hope some have the guts to remind everyone of Iran Contra.

4. *groan* I hadn't even thought of the Repug convention
They'll probably have the whole thing with that picture of him w/ the cowboy hat hanging in the background for the entire time. Every speaker will invoke the holy words of Saint Reagan, and there will be memorial tribute after memorial tribute: songs, speeches, the works.

7. who says? what makes you think she hates the BUsh's?
Babawawa was on TV implying she hates Clinton. Is she just a "hata"?

I could see her pulling the plug.

I know about Reagans and their publicized tiffs with people. I don't recall anything specific about her hating the Bushs or what her motive woud be??!?!

16. There was always tension in the air between the Reagan's and Bush's
I don't think anyone really knows why the Reagans looked down their noses at the Bush's. But I believe it had a lot to do with "Ronnie's the president and George is not" meaning Bush was to be rarely seen and rarely heard from so he couldn't upstage Reagan.

10. Did the Right Wing whack Reagan?? We all talked about the possibility
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 06:12 PM by Gman
In order to justify their crime the right wing would tell you he was going to go anyway and he was totally out of it . They'll tell you that Reagan would agree that the country is in grave danger (is there any other?) if Kerry gets elected. They would tell you that Reagan would have agreed to sacrificed his self to save his beloved country from the threat of liberalism were he aware how bad off he was. They would also tell you that Reagan would have gladly sacrificed his life to defeat terrorism. The "war on terror", they would argue, is in grave danger if Kerry gets elected and also if the liberals retake Congress.

So they would tell you something had to happen to take the focus off of all the negative things because the liberal press has focused only on the bad. Reagan's death would serve to remind people just how great a country this is and just how wonderful life in this country was before Bill Clinton defiled the Oval Office. They will tell you the country needed to be brought back to its senses.

Reagan getting whacked now serves several purposes: The press will dwell on Reagan now for at least the next 10 days. With all the fallout from so many things, including Tenet resigning, 800+ troops dead over a lie, no WMD's Bush and Cheney retaining private counsel for the Plame investigation, they may well think Reagan's death will be a shot in the arm for the holy religion of conservatism. And, don't forget Bill Clinton's book comes out on June 22 , just about the time the hoopla will die down from Reagan. The right wing may well have whacked Reagan to draw what they think will be a stark comparison between the pure evil of the Big Dog and Reagan who represents all that is good and decent.

And, don't forget a year ago or more we were talking about Reagan dying in '04. In fact, we talked like we were expecting it to happen. Well it did. But did Reagan die of natural causes or was he whacked?
