Perhaps a positive Reagan thread?...
Look, I know alot of you hate the man... but no one deserves to die slowly from Alzheimers, and no family deserves to go through it. I really find the "Im glad hes dead" attitude from some DUers here disgusting. Freepers are going to call us disgusting for being so immature and creul for the "I hope he rots in hell" attitude. If you want to be better than freepers, show a little respect for the family at least. Drop the politics for a day. He may have been a lousy president, if not THE lousiest, but how much better are we than him if we get pleasure out of the fact hes dead?... that is somehting a freeper would do.

2. There's only one thing positive about the man
He cannot hurt anybody ever again.

That's the most positive thing I can say right now.

6. Sounds like an endorsement of capital punishment to me...
I assume you use this line of reasoning to promote the death penalty?

I read Patty's first book, and Ron has taken some excellent jibes at Bush.

Another positive comment: that his family no longer has to suffer with him.

imagine what a huge monument he'll get in D.C.

5. I'm trying to think of something positive to say...
nope, sorry, I just can't. I feel sorry for his family and wish them well, but I have nothing good to say about him as a public figure.

32. I like some of his early movies
I have a secret soft spot for his "Brass Bancroft" series - "Secret Service of the Air", "Code of the Secret Service", etc., made c. 1939. Sure, the plots are ludicrous but RR wasn't completely embarassing as an action hero.

Maybe now TMC will run them as part of a Reagan tribute so I can tape them!

10. Reagan was a much better puppet than Bush is.
That's about as positve as I can be about Reagan, I'm afraid.

Reagan was a horrible, puppet president and his administration did everything in it's power to marginalize the poor and exploit the weak for the benefit of the wealthy.

11. I'm not happy he's dead, but I do think it's disgusting that
all the mindless Murikkkans are mourning an international terrorist. We'll be hearing about the TV president from here until election day. If you bring up Nicaragua, you will be siding with the terrorists even though Reagan was a terrorist himself.

20. Get a grip.
He's not an international terrorist. There is a difference between blowing up buildings and bad, heavy-handed foreign policy. Of course, it's much easier to just label the guy as the former, so go right ahead if you must.

Just show a little respect, that's all. The man died of Alzheimers, he went through a lot of pain, as did his family. There is a time for everything.

14. I have actually never seen a good American president
And reagan was bad.

Carter was the least worst of the lot in my lifetime, with JFK the second least worst, followed by Carter as the 3rd least worst, and then CLinton as 4th least worst. Then Eisenhower (while I was a toddler), then Nixon, then Bush I, and then Reagan and then Bush 2, who is the worst American president of my lifetime!.

25. I once heard Reagan tell this racism story
He was in high school or college and his sports team was traveling to play another team or play in a tournament or something. His dad was traveling with the team and they stopped to get a motel room. Must have been a long trip.

Anyway, there was a black player or two on the team and the motel wouldn't allow the black guys to stay in the motel. At the urging of Reagan's dad, the team told the motel to screw off and the whole team slept on the bus instead, in protest. Ronnie claimed he never had a racist bone in his body because of what his dad taught him.

I have no idea whether or not this is a true story but I did hear it from the lips of Ronnie.

29. I'm sorry for those in his family who shared no blame for his policies
But I am so glad he is dead, I can't tell you.

Freepers will call us names no matter what we say, and doubly so when we tell the truth.

An evil, twisted piece of shit has died. Even facing my own mortality, I ain't sorry an ounce about it.
