Mark Dayton(DFL MN) : * Admin – Operates in Evidence Free Zones
Mark Dayton: (DFL MN) * Admin – Operates in Evidence Free Zones

Saw Mark Dayton (DFL MN) at the Rochester MN airport this morning. He and Matt Entenza (Minority House leader, MN) were traveling rural Minnesota today to discuss the failed policies of the * and Pawlenty (Gov – MN) administrations.

Entenza held up a map of Minnesota that was cut out at the borders, excepting the metro areas of the Twin Cities to demonstrate where all efforts were being directed to ease unemployment. The Cities receives a high percentage (sorry, missed the number, so won’t try to quote, but it was close to 4/5’s) of funds from the Fed and state dollars.

Dayton reminded attendees that the * administration squandered the surplus on tax giveaways to folks who will recycle the refunds back into *’s campaign. That money could have come back to the states to assist with the states’ crisis as it was the states that sent surplus $’s to the Fed. Then, mentioned *’s 35 day vacation and how it would be broken up by fund raising. Funny way to spend a vacation and we should beware of anyone who can find the fun in fundraising.

My favorite quote of the morning was in reference to *’s traveling circus of an economic team that came into Minnesota last week and told us how MN was on the forefront of the economic recovery. Dayton called it “operating in Evidence Free Economic Zones”. Dayton cited the highest unemployment rates in 10 years (noting who the Pres was that brought about that!), no new hiring, the failure of NAFTA, and migration of jobs.

Choice comments on finding new jobs in Minnesota was as easy as finding WMD in Iraq – you just make them up!

I am really starting to like Dayton. Great sense of humor – speaking is improving – I guess he has found a reason/cause to get fired up about.

It'll be in the local paper and the 'Cities paper might have something, but our local rag is pay only. We'll see if the star-trib covers the tour. The crowd wasn't huge. There were two news stations there, which wasn't bad and I did find this crappy link:

DFL looking to fix Minnesota job crisis

(KAAL) -- The United States economy is still in a slump, and both GOP and DFL leaders are proposing solutions.

U.S. Senator Mark Dayton and DFL House Leader Matt Entenza arrived in Rochester to share their ideas with voters.
--a little more--

Didn't see the 6:00 news this eve, will watch the 10:00 here soon.
If I find anything else I'll post it.

Just saw the news and they gave it lead! Nice piece, not a lot of imfo - showed the hole in the map, showed the plane landing and, there was nice clip of me shaking hands with Dayton!

2. I have to confess an innate bias in Dayton's favor
...he's an old family friend. Going to be visiting my ultra-conservative dad next week--will have to tweak him about this.

4. Whaaa? I Thought Dayton Opposed Pay Increases For Soldiers
Not the multibillion dollar tax giveaway that was ALSO part of the Senate resolution that just happened to include pay increases for servicemen. Damn cons will do anything for a smear campaign.

Nice reporting BTW, zekeson :)

5. Thanks
I am actually so pissed. Interesting, I think, that our local station, KTTC was there but didn't run the story. KAAL out of Austin thought enough of it to run it as their lead... Of course, I have never before felt there was any repugly bias at KTTC. During 2000 elections Gore was in the cities and they ran a brief clip. * was in neighboring Wisconsin and they introduced the 3 minute piece as, the man who may be the next pResident of the United States.... And it has been like that every since. They are hooked up with a Fox sister station so I assume that means they are owned, ultimatley by Murdoch...
