As inappropriate as anything I've ever seen is the Bush name on that memorial after what Prescott did for the Nazis which enabled them to kill GIs and murder Holocaust victims while creating a fortune for the BFEE to later use to buy their way out of work and into drunkenness and high public office.

7. Hmmm....
Shouldn't that read "Al Gore, President of the United States," since technically, you know...

Hell, Bob Dole deserved more credit for that monument than our AWOL Megalomaniac-in-Chief.

10. wow, and when was planning for the memorial started?
1987.

Great time line here:

http://www.wwiimemorial.com/default.asp?page=archives.asp&subpage=factsheets - click on chronology

According to the Chronology Bush* had nothing to do with it until May 28th, 2001. Now, recall, when 9-11 occurred "they" hadn't been in office long enough to do anything to detect the Bin Laden threat. The economy was going all to hell, but there was no time to have done anything there. How the hell did George* do a damn thing to help this project along except take his crayon up to sign the bill?

May 21-22 - The House and Senate pass legislation directing that the memorial be constructed expeditiously at the dedicated Rainbow Pool site on the National Mall in a manner consistent with previous approvals and permits. President Bush signed the legislation into law (Public Law 107-11) on Memorial Day, May 28th.

18. It might be funny in a hundred years...
... after people have lost their memories of his era. Kinda like a quirky historical footnote.

It bugs me, but it almost seems to be the way these things go.

12. Ya know, it doesn't bother me.
I keep imagining myself traveling to DC twenty, thirty years from now, visiting that memorial, seeing that name, and being reminded, just because that Chimpish Name is on the granite, of what real leadership looks like, and what it does NOT look like.

I envision telling my children about that man, and the differences between that man and Roosevelt, Truman, and of course, the man who beat Chimp, Kerry.

Something about having the BFEE name on that memorial seems more historical, more ironic, more important than having any other name.

It's probably just me, but that granite will serve as a reminder for generations upon generations.

"Look, Mommy, there's the name of that president we read about in school. He's the stupid man that they call The Worst President Ever!"

You can't help but point and laugh.

25. Except that...
few people know or care about the truth today and that situation may only get worse with the passage of time. Sheeple will tear up when they see that name and associate it with great heroism and courage and sacrifice.

It doesn't belong there.

13. Since the majority of those that died in that war were Democrats...
It is something I have thought about also. Do they have president's names on all the other monuments Does the Vietnam Memorial have Reagan's name on it?

23. Bothers me too..Dem from Ohio suggested it..Clinton raised
money and signed the bill and Guess who got their name on it?

All he had to do was show up and put his name there since he claims
he is a WAR President. Kinda like showing up and taking his place in the oval office. He deserves neither spot ! I do want his name somewhere though and it, too is granite. but I won't say. I cannot think of anyone that needs their name on granite more if not traded in for some numbers..Where they take your name.

24. There's An Old, Distinguished Tradition Of Scratching Names Off Monuments
goes back to ancient Egypt and Revolutionary France.

It would be entirely appropriate and with plenty of precedence to do so at some time in the near future.
