Why isn't the Enron Story breaking all over the place?
So far I've seen it on CBS and here. I turned on MSGOP and CNGOPN the other day hoping to see this story exploding...instead all I got was "All Scott Peterson, all the time".

Is this story not sexy enough? I would think that a tape recording of Enron traders talking about screwing grandma up the A$$ and "effing" CA would warrant some coverage.

I guess that mediamatters.org is right! If this were a Democratic administration, then it would start on Drudge, move to Rush for 15 hours a week, then move on to the Mooney (WA) Times, then Fox and then would get 24/7 coverage on the cable news shows.

God we really need a "liberal" echo chamber.

I contacted CNN...have you?

1. Suggestion
This is the Campaign Underground California media page...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/cu/cu.php?az=media&state=CA

Plenty of media outlets listed there that I'm sure would be interested to hear from a bunch of angry energy consumers...

2. I thought the same thing...
...last night when Dan Rather said that the story was a CBS "exclusive". Why should any ONE network have an exclusive on this story?

7. usually they put it on the feeds right after it's aired
so CNN, etc can pick it up.

Also, the AP should be covering it (Crediting CBS, if exclusive)

If they're sitting on it, it means there's more to the story & we'll probably see it on 60 Minutes this week. in the meantime, they may be sharing it under embargo until the airdate.

Get the story to Yahoo's main page!

Especially this sentence:
"When this election comes Bush will f------g whack this s--t, man. He won't play this price-cap b------t."

Give it a little time.
I'm guessing it will take 2-3 days to explode.

16. Not a single sentence in the Fresno Bee
about this story. Why does that not surprise me? The home town of Rim-Job and the paper doesn't even mention how it's subscribers were "fu$3ed" by the GOP.

Surely won't appear on 580 KMJ the 24/7 GOP Advertising Arm that poses as an AM Radio Station.

22. L.A. local radio
I think the way a local radio station (Clear Channel KKKFI) covered this story this morning is indicative of what we're up against. Their 6a-7a hour is devoted to news with the "important" stories starting off the hour...this morning, we didn't hear about Enron until 6:40am. Of course Scott Peterson was much more important...

10. Since it broke on CBS...
...maybe 60 Minutes will do a piece on it. That should bring it to the forefront a bit.

12. There have been headlines in the L.A. Times before
months and maybe even a couple of years ago about how they had gouged us. I've always been absolutley dumbfounded by the lack of non-response to what Enron did.....but then, everything that's happened has dumbfounded me so eventually I just got to a point where I realized I couldn't go out into the street screaming and I couldn't let it effect my health so I had to somehow just chill as much as I could. I told my co-workers last week when I first heard about these tapes and they were kind of like, "oh really." I HOPE AND PRAY THAT THIS GOES OUT EVERYWHERE, at least out here....and possibly the western states (such as Nevada, Washington state, etc.).

15. Cheney Energy Group orchestrated the screwjob...
They set up CA and they carved up Iraq and Afghanistan. That is why they can never release those papers. We need some Democratic committees in Congress desperately so they can control the investigations of these mafiosi.

13. Why Hasn't Tweety Run ONE Enron Story in 2 1/2 Years?
Enron broke in November '01, then broke hard in January '02. Suddenly back then Tweety decided that the Middle East was just a tinderbox (newsflash) that demanded his and our COMPLETE attention. He launched into Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr-May of non-stop ME stories, including, even, a rare venturing outside of his studio (except for those long walks with Nancy RAYGUN at the RAYGUN Library), an actual VISIT to the ME. He even climbed into a helicopter a la Geraldo, and the STARK FEAR was not hidden by the dark glasses.

Somebody correct me, but I have NEVER seen Tweety do a show or a segment on Enron. I admit that I don't monitor him much anymore.

14. I have a question.
Since this story broke, doesn't it pretty much prove that the reason for the recall in California was a bogus one? Or is there something I don't understand about it that someone might explain to me.

17. Doesn't matter
We'll be told today how this story just makes Ahnold even more popular. How this joke could have a 61% approval rating is beyond me. People must think this is a movie or something.

23. About the recall...I ABSOLUTELY agree...
I, as well, wonder, what the hell.....this was the main reason that Davis was recalled about how HE botched the energy thing and I knew all along it was TOTAL BULLSHIT! God help us all!!!!!!!!!!!

24. It's the Enronomy, Stupid
December 14, 2001
by Walt Starr

George W. Bush believes he can coin new words for the English language, so I thought I'd give my first shot at this practice with enronomy. Look at the beauty in the word. Enron is a perfect analogy for the current economic conditions in this nation. Previously number seven on the Forbes 500 list, and now bankrupt - compare it to the Clinton economy being taken over by Bush and run into the ground.

The entire idea of the enronomy runs deeper than any analogy, however. The complicity of the Bush administration in the happenings of Enron had detrimental effects on the enronomy (there's that word again). Sixty billion dollars just disappearing from the enronomy must have a detrimental effect, and let's face facts, there is no way that members of this administration didn't know what was going on.

Surely what happened to the employees of Enron can only be described as trickle down enronomics! That's exactly what Bush is doing to the average worker in America.

I don't think anybody who had a dime in a mutual fund as a part of their 401K has been unaffected by Bush's enronomy. I know that California residents are amongst the hardest hit in this Bush enronomy for nothing more than the skyrocketing prices of energy this past summer.

Even Bush's home state has not gone unscathed in our current enronomic situation. Look at the poor residents of Houston, the city hardest hit by the Bush trickle down enronomics.

25. The media is up to their antics again...the fake Ashcroft threat,
and Scott Peterson et al are being used to usurp time that should be devoted to the real news. It will be interesting to see whether *'s numbers improve as the media coverup re-emerges.
