4. 600 families in the Military Families Speak Out, now!
Started out with 4 members!

Talkin' about bush's "Bring them on"

They say "Bring Them Home"!

They understand what this attack was all about! Oil is not worth their son's and daughter's life!

They support the troops not bush's agenda.

on 1 or 2!

Our troops are stuck in quagmire.

National Gaurds are lured into reserves for education and are not prepared for special combat.

No vehicles, no

bush and rumsfeld Lied and betrayed and do not support troops.

Her son said they are out there flapping. A woman from Massachusets talkin' about her son Justin!

10. This is why Dean, Kucinich, and Braun
are the perfect choices for President because they will not lead us into an illegal war and they have the courage to speak against, despite what the polls say, they stand up for what is right, that is the kind of man/woman leading this country.

70. Wolf "Blitzen, Blinken and Nod" of CNN...
... earlier interviewed this man on CNN and it was all I could do not to throw a brick through the TV!!!! In response to this father's passionate and eloquent remarks about why the Iraq invasion was an illegal war and that the troops should be brought home, BlitzerBush acutally had the nerve to ask this man (not an exact quote here, methinks), "But aren't you glad Saddam Hussein has been removed from power?" You had to have actually witnessed this interview, because the tone Wolface used was accusatory, ie, if you don't support this damned war you must be a Saddam-lover!! What a shameless shitface!!

Did anyone else catch that interview? Wolf was totally disgusting!

Watching it now. A father whose son was killed in Iraq is speaking now. Fernando Suarez del Solar is his name; he has an interpreter. He says, "Mr. Bush, how many more of our sons do you need to bring our soldiers home? How many more American lives? ....No more deceit. My son will not return but I want other sons to return home."

This man looks so very sad. My heart goes out to him. As he finished his speech, he hugged his sobbing wife.

Next up is Stan Goff but Fernando's wife is still sobbing. Now it is making others on the stage cry.

The only Presidential candidate who they feel addresses their concerns and who took the time to meet with them is Kucinich. He was one of the guests of honor at their National Convention this year. Spoke to and with them Saturday morning. Re-arranged everything on his schedule to make it.

Sadly, Kerry flat out refused to meet with them- they told me he first sent a staffer to talk to them and then when they pressed flat out refused to see them. The others had no time. Sharpton has promised he will. Guess who 99% of them are backing? Both them and Vets for Peace.

36. What is going on that the People do Not know!
Mainstream news is no reflection as to what is going in Iraq.

Well we knew that!

Tom McMahon speaking...How many Soldiers have been wounded in Iraq?

They are concealing it. The more info Americans have the less they will support the war.

How Many have been wounded? It's an indictment that I have to guess.

Stan Goff ...media has limited view. imbed reporters = propoganda coup...no dead bodies...we need to see them.

War would be over in a week if we could see the pictures of our dead Soldiers.

what they won't say is that true Americans have no problem fighting for JUST CAUSES. Something this is not.

I'm afraid the deck is stacking precipitously in Kerry's favor, since he will draw votes heavily from this environment of betrayal, and frankly he is uniquely qualified to assume command of the ship of state after chimpy's global destruction.

57. We Betrayed Them
These are not people for whom a Yale legacy slot and an automatic admission to the Harvard Business School were options. Many enrolled, undoubtedly, for the educational benefits.

They enrolled assuming that any deployment would be in affairs of legitimate national security, that demogoguery would not be a factor, that they would not be fighting to make the world safe for Halliburton, and that democratic procedures would determine whether they went or not. Instead, our government let them down, punked out rather than be accused of being soft on national security. They were betrayed, and this rips at the heart of our democracy.

US military families push to bring Iraq troops home

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Niala Boodhoo

WASHINGTON, Aug 12 (Reuters) - A group of about 600 U.S. military families, upset about the living conditions of soldiers in Iraq, are launching a campaign asking their relatives to urge members of Congress and President George W. Bush to bring the troops home.

"We're growing more and more disturbed about the conditions that are developing. Our concerns are both for our troops and the people in Iraq," said Nancy Lessin, a founder of Families Speak Out, formed last fall to oppose the war in Iraq.

Susan Schuman, whose son Justin is in the Massachusetts National Guard deployed to Samarra, Iraq, said he shares a small room in a former Iraqi police barracks with five other men. "They are rationed to 2 liters of water a day and it's 125 degrees (52 degrees C), they haven't had anything but MREs (Meals Ready to Eat)," she told Reuters, adding that uncertainty about when the troops would come home was "most disheartening."

Organizers hope to take advantage of Congress' summer recess to voice their concerns to lawmakers in their home states. "The idea is not to confront but say look, 'what is going on?'" said Dennis O'Neil, a member of Veterans for Peace, another group involved in the campaign. "This war was supposed to be quick."

61. Slanted article just portrays them as wimps,
instead of being betrayed for oil and empire based on lies.

They probably wrote the article before the press conference.

72. UPSET ABOUT THE LIVING CONDITIONS??! WTF KIND OF CRAP IS THAT?
How about upset about not having any drinking water?

How about upset about being lied to and used to enrich the Carlyle thugs?

How about upset about having inarticulate AWOL Frat Boys telling the other side to BRING IT ON?

How about hungry and tired and heart-broken?

Heart-broken and dying in their sleep?

Coming home with that hundred-yard stare that goes nowhere and sees nothing?

Oh Lord... Last week one of the young soldiers I trained called me... said he couldn't sleep... wanted to kill himself... no could never sleep again because he was ordered to blow up a house with kids in it... and he did it... and now he can't sleep... doesn't even want to hold his own kids...

Damn you to hell Bush. Damn to hell everyone who enabled this war in any way, shape or form.

Event and show/launch the ARMY OF ONE commercial there --

I should dedicate it to these families.

56. Stan Goff was just on Blitzer
He stressed the illegality of the war and the fabrications used to justify it.

Naturally, the slot was dominated by Wolf, a retired general and callers who said it wouldn't be fair to the Iraqi people to bring the troops home before completing their "mission."

:grr:

71. Wolfbreath also asked this father...
in the CNN interview, "But aren't you glad Saddam is a gone?" as if he was a Saddam-lover if he didn't support this war! Wolf made me so damned sick I felt like throwing a brick through the TV!!

see them again! Thanks!

Like Stan Goff said we need to see pictures of the wounded and dead Soldiers to see what is really happening...not bushwa hogwash version.

68. If this doesn't make people want to go out and volunteer
for the democratic party or anti-war movement, I don't know what will.

As soon as I get done with the important things that I have to do this week I will find out where I can go and how I can help with the dem candidate that I favor. Be it passing out flyers and/or getting people to register to vote I will be glad to do it.
That thief in office has got to go.

75. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF C-SPAN WIL REPLAY THIS TONIGHT?
Edited on Wed Aug-13-03 03:15 PM by eablair3
sorry for the all caps there, but I'd really like to have seen this. Many times C-SPAN replays live events from the daytime in the evening. Does anyone know if C-Span will be replaying this one?

thanks much.

84. 9:30 ET on C-Span
tape it if you can--so you can show others.

I too was moved to tears by this, and also last night by the press conference representing about 9,000 doctors in favor of national health insurance (for different reasons). On so many fronts, for so many reasons we have to STOP *
