What treatment do Independent party posters deserve
Do DUers want Democrats only to post here? If this is the case, do you think the name Democratic Underground is misleading? Is the Democratic creed owned&operated by Democrats only? I don't feel any of these are the case. What are your thought's on these questions?

1. There is a difference between Independents (meaning choose
the best candidate ((in their opinion)) whichever party) and the Independent Party, which has chosen Nader as its candidate. They are welcome to hear our reasons why Nader should drop out. All this Nader propaganda that both parties are alike gave us GWB.

8. So Nader is utterly and totally responsible for Bush's winning?
No other factors, whatsoever?

Fill me in.

22. No...Jeb and Harris gave you GWB...
....Why is it that Democrats don't want to talk about Election Fraud 2000? They ALWAYS bring up Nader...but never the Bush* cabal election fraud.

- I don't give a flying shit if you blame Nader. Big deal. But the very least you can do is make mention of the Bush* dirty tricks, media manipulation and outright fraud committed that caused thousands of votes NOT to be counted.

5. i am a registered independent
and agree on a lot of the democratic issue, adn the ones i do may express may not express opinion. i have no desire to fight and argue with anyone and most all are respectful. probably more conservative on the fiscal issue, difinitely totally liberal on the social issues,

7. I think Admin has been very clear from the beginning....
Democrats, conservative and liberal, and progressives of all stripes have been accepted here...although they may have to have a thick skin if they want to promote an idea that is not in the DU "mainstream". But if they're not ready to take the heat, they may want to stand back and look at the kitchen. If they come in with an idea that is in line with the right-wing, they probably won't last long...

9. They're fine in general
So long as they don't proselytize about their candidate.

For instance, if a Green or a Libertarian came on and chatted about how the right-wingers are fucktards, that's all well and good. When they start attacking Kerry and saying we should vote for their candidate, that's when they need to go.

Edited on Mon May-31-04 04:34 PM by noiretblu
i assume they should be treating just like anyone else who supports this site, and plays by the rules. that goes for greens, socialists (and others) too.

11. Depends on if they share the same goals as DU states in their user
agreement.

If you are here to tear down the only progressive with a chance to beat Bush, ta ta.

If not, welcome - we look forward to working with you. :hi:

12. Welcome to DU!

You'll find Nader-haters here. You'll also find Nader lovers who intend to vote for Kerry. But basically DU (I'm fairly new here myself) reminds me of the old Emily Dickinson rhyme:

He drew a circle that shut me out--
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win:
We drew a circle that took him in.

:hi: :yourock: :hi: :kick:

Edited on Mon May-31-04 05:20 PM by GreenPartyVoter
since I am a Kucinich supporter and plan to check off Kerry's name in November, my presence is either tolerated or warmly welcomed depending upon the person you talk to. :)

18. Well, Independants were allowed in my state party caucus on the condition
...on the condition that they had either voted for the democratic candidate in the last election, or were planning on doing so in the upcoming election. I think that would be a fair measure for around here as well... it's not like this is an offical party offshoot.
