Why have gas prices come DOWN to much since one week ago?
Edited on Mon May-31-04 01:08 PM by HypnoToad
In Minnesota, anyway. Have you noticed a similar drop?

Two weeks ago, a specific gas station in Minnesota: $2.199/gal

One week ago, same location: $2.099/gal. At this point, everybody was saying how prices would go up for Memorial Day weekend...

Five days ago, same location: $2.059 - I bought 3 gallons thinking it'd go up.

Three days ago, same location: $2.019 - having gone on a long trip, I refuelled, thinking I was lucky

Yesterday, same location: $1.959 (though I know of other gas stations that shave off a few pennies, I wanted to be consistent.)

On one hand, this means prices for food and everything will go back down (uh-huh). This also proves somebody in power (likely a Democrat) was thinking of pursuing gas stations for price gouging.

What the FUCK is going on? x( Now the media is feeding chicken little stories about prices going up when they're slowly going back down? If it isn't price gouging, what is it?

Usually Memorial Day is a big weekend, so it's odd that gas prices went down at all, let alone down by 25 cents/gal compared to 2 weeks ago, or 15 cents from a week ago. Very odd indeed.

15. Nope ... too soon.

It takes a couple months for the crude prices to ripple into gas prices. If anything, this is probably too planned increased supply (for Memorial day) combined with reduced travel due to high gas price.

3. Don't worry. The convenient "terra attacks" in Saudi Arabia will ensure...
...that the gas prices go back up again.

7. When they are back to $1.50 in the Bay Area then I'll consider them down
But over the last week at my local "discount" station they went from $2.31 for regular to $2.27. That may be a downward fluctuation but it is certainly not down to what I am used to paying.

Who needs to attack America when aiming at the source of the problem is good enough?

13. cheapo stations $1.959 here and up to
$2.09 at others (that i don't frequent, but glance at in passing to see what they are getting away with).

but it's hovered there for about a week. I don't think it will go down anytime soon. That's the price we should get used to...
