Protest on I-495 Overpass Today (Washington) NICE JOB!
Driving on the inner loop of the beltway in Maryland today about 430 ish. Traffic was really slow and backed up (nothing unusual). Found the reason when we hit an overpass (Georgia Ave.?) Some folks had spread a banner on the overpass that read

BUSH LIED THOUSANDS DIED!

Cares were slowing to honk and wave and give thumbs up (I'm sure they got flipped a few birds as well). My wife honked the car horn like crazy and I rolled down the passenger window to wave!

NICE JOB FOLKS!!

1. Wonderful.
All it takes is two people and an afternoon free of other commitments. Just great.

4. I am pleased that no one from here has claimed responsibility.
It shows that resistence is widespread and extends far from the environs of a few radical web sites.

Outstanding.

3. These banners should be hanging from every overpass
in the country.

The people themselves are the best ones to get the message out. Can't rely on the media!

Way to go!

Traffic jams are a royal pain. On the other hand, this one is great!

7. Right on!
I would have honked with the rest of them... of course, living 1000 miles away doesn't help so I'll just cheer from here! :D

8. Super! I hope this catches on!
I travel that way frequently (too often in fact), but have never seen anything THAT inspiring. It must have been the Forest Glen overpass (or whatever Forest Glen is called after it crosses Capital View) since Georgia Ave. goes under 495. I wonder if the police were called? I hope one of the suburban newspapers will mention who was responsible.

:bounce:

10. Saw a bumper sticker today in Richmond that read:
"Let's not re-elect Bush in 2004" with the W in a circle and a diagonal slash through it.

I drove by the guy and gave him a peace sign out of my window. Don't know if he saw me, but that was my way of giving him my thumbs up.

:)

18. I saw a Bush-Orwell bumper sticker in Pgh, Pa. yesterday!!!
At first glance I thought Oh Shit a Bush-Cheney sticker but quickly realized it was ORWELL not DICK. Actually, it was an oversized sticker and gave me a quite a laugh and feeling that we are winning this battle.

I have 'Kerry President' stickers on both my cars.
