Discipline Takes a Break at the White House
By DAVID E. SANGER

Published: May 30, 2004

-snips-

WASHINGTON — The country may be deeply divided about President Bush, but even his harshest critics used to offer their grudging admiration of one of the greatest talents of this White House: its extraordinary discipline and message control.

No more.

For months now, the same administration whose members once prided themselves on never contradicting one another in public has been riven by conflicting pronouncements. Senior officials keep missing opportunities to keep their signals straight, prompting cases of vicious backbiting that one senior member of Mr. Bush's national security staff said with disgust the other day "make us sound like Democrats."

Reporters who spent the first two-thirds of Mr. Bush's term looking for any crack between the tight-lipped members of the administration suddenly feel as if they have stepped into an amusement park, with different hawkers openly selling disparate policies, explanations and critiques.

"What you find is that coerced discipline often erodes,'' Mr. Suskind said. "And when it goes, it really goes. Some of that rigor of message was suddenly the stuff of coercion, born of fear rather than real loyalty."

4. The e-mail from Feith
Edited on Sun May-30-04 06:40 PM by wryter2000
If I have the details right, an e-mail from Feith surfaced in which he said something like the deal to give Halliburton $$$ for reconstructing Iraq had been coordinated through Cheney's office.

Hope this link works

5. IMO, news media are waiting until AFTER the big Memorial day
celebrations to break into more news on the failing bush* administration....it's a real busy news weekend with all the Memorial day stuff....all hell is ready to break when every gets back from their holidays....

and there is SO MUCH to run with....including email-gate, the grand jury investigation of treason for outing a CIA agent, the bush* ordered abuse and murder of Iraqi POWs, asscrofts insane polically-motivated terror alert, AND MORE AND MORE leaking photos and videos from bush* sex-torture snuff operation in the bush* gulags (any smart person would have released the whole mess ALL AT ONCE...now, we are guaranteed a steady diet of sex-torture snuff operations all the way to the election), the bush*-sponsored double-agent chalabi, the new bush*-sponsored chalabi-relative CIA-payed-for Iraq President...and much much more...
