"Democrats wonder if Kerry should stay on careful path," The New York Times said Thursday, a day after Gore hammered the Bush administration.
Kerry should offer a decidedly different agenda than Bush when it comes to Iraq and the war on terrorism, some Democrats say, warning that Bush's poll numbers could get a boost from improvements in Iraq, a surge in the economy or the capture of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden (news - web sites).
But other Democrats cautioned against a strategy that relies on Bush's misfortunes to win the presidency.
"I don't think anybody in their right mind is going to run for president on a strategy of 'people hate the other guy and that's enough for our guy to win'," Douglas Sosnik, former president Bill Clinton (news - web sites)'s political strategist, told the Times.
WTF??? How does Sosnik think the Republicans have been winning???
