Something that needs to be said about the NY Times....
Somebody pointed out how the right-wingers call in to C-SPAN and other talk shows all the time complaining about the NY Times. I think it is worth pointing out that the Washington Times and many right wing newspapers sometimes carry the same story but they usually condense the news that the NY Times gives in its entirety. The same applies here in Colorado Springs with the Gazette, a right-wing rag, they will carry the same story as the Times but they condense it to a point where if you want all the information, you hve to get the NY Times. Bottom line is, the NY Times is better.....even with all their warts exposed.

When I want the truth (and I always do), I get it at the NY Times.

11. not always
no matter how good a source is, it's never "The Truth". No good source would even make that claim.

13. You're right, Cocoa.
I should have said that I depend on the NYTimes as the most reliable source for the truth. Thanks

ny post: republican talking points, mallard fillmore, raving lunatic anti-left railings posing as articles, and the obligatory font size 80 headlines!

6. Whitewater, Wen Ho Lee, and J.Miller's WMD. With friends like these...
...in the media, liberals don't need enemies.

Those were the NYT's biggest stories that they've broken in the last decade. All three were total frauds that helped out the right wing.

12. you can't ignore their serious problems
The question isn't is the NYT good or bad, it's wtf happened with WMD, and other questionable writing such as Wen Ho Lee and Venezuela.

The WMD fiasco had historical influence, Dick Cheney used it to make his case, and Dick Durbin said that it influenced how Congress acted.

16. My opinion of the Times has really dropped
due to their terrible coverage at the run up to war.

They are still the most influential paper in the country, & they do cover some things really well.

But the big mistake is to rely on 1 source. The more you read, the more info you get. And don t take any of it for fact. Read it critically & make up your own mind.
