Expect plenty of comparisons to WWII in the next week
Dedication of the WWII Memorial on Memorial Day, followed by the D-Day Anniversary a week later...no way they'll pass up the opportunities.

Great article in the current issue of Newsweek on just how poorly Bush compares to FDR & Churchill.

1. I don't usually read Newsweek.
I'll have to check it out when I'm in the doctor's office.
;)

3. For conservatives every war is WWII
They so badly want it to be 1944 again--minus the high taxes, a fair and equitable military draft and domestic culture of sacrifice--when it was an unambiguous war of good guys verses bad guys and all Americans supported the war effort. They also love to draw comparisons as if to suggest that the war in Iraq is somehow a fight for national survival as the Big One was.

4. Zzzzzzz
Yeah -- I think you can go to the bank with that prediction.

This whole Operation Oil Quagmire = WWII is farcical, at best.

They just can't rewrite history fast enough, can they?

If we were not in grave peril at their hands, COndi's conjuring of the Lusitania, and uncovering all sorts of creative historical analogies for the present day YET being totally incapable of comprending the significance of terror intelligence in 2001 would be laughably absurd.

The Greatest Generation can't die fast enough, as far is Bush is concerned. Guys my Dad's age, who went toe to toe with Hitler and totalitarism, HATE Bush. They are furious that they spent their youth fighting fascism, only to see it rise in America in their old age. It's sad.

(BTW -- i LOVE the banners you linked to! Hilarious.)

6. They weren't afraid to show us real photos of WWII
They didn't hide the coffins coming back either.

7. Time to re-tell those old war stories...
Like Prescott Bush, "trading with the enemy" in August 1942. Lots of links here:

Not to mention Bush the Smarter's "heroic" service in the Pacific. Maybe they'll bring back his old crew for a touching reunion. Oops, maybe not.
