Chalabi Break In - Who was present?
Edited on Wed May-26-04 03:23 AM by RapidCreek
What squad attached to what platoon attached to what company attached to what branch of the service, was present after the tossing of Chalabi's home and office? Also...has any affirmation been given by either the FBI or CIA that they were actually involved?

In a New York Times piece dated May 20 2004 authors DEXTER FILKINS and KIRK SEMPLE report that witnesses claimed the raiding party consisted of at least 100 people....Including "officials they believed to be from the FBI and the CIA". Why did these witnesses believe those present included "officials with the FBI and the CIA"?
Where they American? Did they identify themselves as CIA and FBI? If they were American and failed to identify themselves as CIA and FBI...then what makes the witnesses think that they were? If they were not CIA and FBI, then who were they and what were they doing there? Who were the "people" that were not "Iraqi police" or CIA and FBI officers?

Dan Senor, chief spokesman for Paul Bremmer acknowledged that Americans were involved but that "It was an Iraqi-led investigation, it was an Iraqi-led raid, it was the result of Iraqi arrest warrants". He Further asserted Bremmer, the top American administrator in Iraq,"did not know the operation was occurring today" and was notified only after it had been completed. NOTIFIED BY WHOM?

Now correct me if I'm wrong...but last I heard Iraqi police are under the command of the American Civilian and Military authorities in Iraq. I wouldn't think they would be operating outside the purview of either. More to the point, I find it rather odd that it would be asserted that they are giving the CIA FBI and US military direction whether it pertains to break ins or to the arrest of American "contractors" like Nick Berg. If they are...then who exactly are these iraqi "police"?

There has been much conjecture here on the board for the past couple days as to what the Chalabi hub bub portends. It seems to me before we can arrive at any sort of reasonable conclusion we need to discover who exactly it was that broke into Chalabi's office....and on whose authority and order they did so.

Let's scrub the web people and see what we can find out. If some of you know soldiers serving in Iraq....ask them if they an shed any light on what platoon the soldiers present after the break in were attatched to.

It appears to me as though there is a war within a war within a war taking place here and the theater stretches all the way to Washington.
