Fascist Sen. Jon Kyl introduces bill to make "Patriot Act" permanent
Edited on Tue May-25-04 02:44 PM by DaveSZ
http://www.dailykos.com/

"S. 2476 was introduced by Senator Jon Kyl (R-AR), and calls for all of the sunset provisions of the Patriot to be lifted, essentially making the entire Act permanent. The bill lacks a companion measure in the House. Sixteen parts of the Patriot Act sunset or expire at the end of 2005, when they will then be subject to Congressional oversight and reauthorization."

1. I am sitting about 100 yards from Kyl's office
or would be, if I was on the ground floor.

Maybe less.

2. just last night... bush again says something to the effect
(to prove that our resistance on the ground is not from the general Iraqi public) that given the choice of freedom, people will select freedom.

Now isn't that contrary to the ideas being pushed by the Patriot Act and making it permanent... the idea being that people should give up some freedoms in the name of security?

4. .
You know when it becomes a radical position to fight for our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms and rights, that America is in deep shit.

We need to purge the neocon Fundie fascists from our government, and replace them with people who will uphold the Constitution.

WASHINGTON - The American Civil Liberties Union today voiced its strong opposition to legislation introduced in the Senate Friday that seeks to make permanent portions of the Patriot Act currently set to expire at the end of 2005. The measure follows a commitment by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) to hold hearings on a Patriot Act corrections bill.

Or you'll really be in trouble. Which probably means that the rest of us will be in trouble too. Either that, or the rest of the world is just going to end up avoiding you, wherever possible.

15. I searched the US Senate website:
http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/g_three_sections_with_teasers/legislative_home.htm

"The text of S. 2476 has not yet been received from GPO

Bills are generally sent to the Library of Congress from the Government Printing Office a day or two after they are introduced on the floor of the House or Senate. Delays can occur when there are a large number of bills to prepare or when a very large bill has to be printed."
