ok, am I the ONLY person on the planet who has figured out that Al Jazeera
teevee is a CIA asset?

Centered in Qutar, the CIA HQ of the middle east, hasn't ANYONE else noticed how much it's used for the disinformation schemes since the bush regime stole office?

Thoughts, conjecture, tinfoil hats?

I'd love some reinforcement on this... Fellow conspiratorialists?

Yes, they try to keep track of civilian deaths; how is this "anti-American propaganda"?

Speaking of nuts....

8. once i read an al-j story reposted on one of my usual sites,
Edited on Tue May-25-04 01:05 PM by ursacorwin
of course no link now, but i'll never forget what i read.

blah blah blah DEMOCRAT PARTY blah blah blah

i thought, gee! who do i know who uses that phrase?

ever since then i've been less enamoured of Al-J. i don't know if it's totally a CIA front, but i'm sure that like all other Big Media outlets, i have to take what they say with a huuuuge grain of salt.

i think it's totally possible that it isn't a CIA front, but that there are intel people working there undercover. we know they do that here, and in other places around the world.

12. Doubtful
It's just a news outlet that reports on stories from a different viewpoint than the western media outlets and I value it for that reason. For it's efforts though, it gets derided as an "Al Queda propoganda news channel" by the right wing media who obviously have an agenda precisly opposite of Al Jazeera's.

Certainly, it peddles propoganda in much the same way Fox or the BBC might but I find it hard to believe it does it for the explicit benefit of Al Queda. If you know otherwise, please post supportive evidence.

23. Al Jazeera was a former BBC middle east station until they stopped
funding it - it's still basically run by the same journalists formerly employed by the BBC.

It's a hell of a lot more respectable, realiable and correct on most matters - than any american counterpart.

Thank god for Al Jazeera!

9. If nothing is as it seems
which seems to be a popular mode of reasoning 'round here (sometimes) in opposite-land, why doesn't that mode extend in all directions?

I propose that FOX NEWS is a communist front organization. Has anyone made the right-wing cause appear more laughable? Aren't most things they say so stupid it's a transparent hoax?

It's all becoming clear...

13. Without a war on terror,
this administration would have to explain their draining the US Treasury to the 1%, spending $400BB a year on corporate military contracts, and the loss of 3MM jobs here.

Republicans need a WOT as bad as AQ needs a US occupying force to take the heat off the Saud Royal family.

14. al-Jazeera is a zionist tool
according to Saudi clerics:

Riyadh, , May. 20 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia's highest religious authority issued a "fatwa" or religious edict Thursday banning Muslims from watching Qatar-based al-Jazeera TV.

The edict issued by Sheik Saleh al-Fawzan, a member of the kingdom's committee of ulemas, described the Arab satellite channel as "Zionist television," which hosts "so-called reformists who have a podium for airing their poisonous ideas."

which was written about in the New York Times magazine.
I don't think this is 100% tinfoil.

20. Remember when Powell had a bin Laden tape before Al-Jazeera
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2003-02-11-us-iraq_x.htm

That made me wonder about Al-Jazeera's role, when Powell discussed the transcript of a supposed bin Laden tape to be broadcast by Al-Jazeera, before Al-Jazeera had even received the tape. Maybe they were merely unwitting tools for that bit of US propaganda, or someone high up at the station tipped Washington off before passing it on, or who knows what. Certainly strange, anyway.

Of course, the very idea of Washington setting up Islamic false flag operations is just ridiculous. If it wasn't so ridiculous though, the western-controlled closed book that is Qatar would seem a good location. :)
