anybody watch senator biden after bush's speech
on chris matthews?

the man was brilliant, kind of reminds you of subdued dean.
he said that it makes no sense to transfer power to the government that does not have any real power.
what happens if the new iraqi government (who is supposed to represent the iraqi people, who by 79% want america to withdraw immediately) wants to do the x thing, and us wants to do the y thing, who wins the argument in the end?
he said we only have one more shot to do this right, and we have to enlist other countries and do everything possible to make sure this stops being american occupation, and becomes international coalition, so that iraqis don't feel occupied, and bush falls short in his efforts to do that.
in the end he said - details matter.

2. It would rock even more if he never supported this debacle..

That would really have rocked.

Everything he says now is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

7. I wish I could agree with you...

What matters is that he lacked common sense that a lot of us had and got a lot of people killed.

10. I'm getting really sick of "born again war dissenters"
especially in our own party.

While I fully endorse the policy of admitting to a lapse in judgement (and repenting apropriately), all these "we were misled!" protestations just smack of disingenuousness.

They went the politically expedient route and it is biting them on the ass, so now they are sooooo indignant!

Like KissMyAsscroft said, lots of us "regular folks" called bullshit on this from the get-go, so I don't buy the phony ignorance defense.

The Repubs who are feigning umbrage are simply poseurs with an eye on upcoming elections.
Tell it to all the resulting dead on both sides and start working some of that lying voodoo on our ruined reputation in the world.

What a bunch of predictable, transparent bastards.

11. RE:born again war dissenters
So right Lady Texan
so it's not just my imagination
Having spent the last 16 months howling about this lying pack of dogs while the lemmings marched cheerfully of to war whistling the theme to Fox News.

12. I agree. I want them all OUTTA THERE
They all suck. They're all following the winds, the key words being "following".

They're just a mob.

We need people who can think for themselves.

9. Biden has been critical of Bush's operations, but not of the invasion
I heard him on CSPAN not too long ago, and he was still saying the invasion was a good thing, but that Bush had blown it. That sounds too political to me, like he's just trying to play what's popular at the time without having to admit he was wrong before.

Then again, that's always been my opinion of Biden, that he's an opportunist who goes where the limelight is, and who spends more time crafting his speeches than examining his own ideology.

And that's part of his problem. When he criticizes Bush, Repubs dismiss him as just another Dem, and when he supports Bush, Dems criticize him as a DINO. Which means that Biden never influences opinion, he just follows it.

4. Joe's pissed off many a Democrat on the board.
That said, it has given him a lot of credibility with Republicans and the media because he's been seen as a supporter of this war. Lose Biden and you've lost the Senate's coalition of the willing. Bush better take this message seriously and negotiate a NATO/UN coalition to transfer the power....he best stop sawing the branch he's on before he takes himself completely out.
