President Bush's speech tonight was all about the Bush Administrations "vision". Where were the Iraqis and their "vision"? Where was a qualified Iraqi to express his vision for Iraq? I didn't see one, did you?
Could it be that no one Iraqi representative would dare show his or her face alongside with President Bush? Could it be that this speech was for rallying the support for President Bush's re-election? Could it be that Bush was trying to reassure the American people to stay the course?
President Bush did all but address the Iraqi people and the one thing most Generals will tell you is that in order to win the "war" you have to win the hearts and minds of the people you are trying to liberate. Otherwise you may come off as occupiers and not liberators. It is my opinion that President broke no new ground here.
I'm trying to ask intelligent questions here. Not trying to inflame.
5. Agreed. No new ground. Bush admin has just one simple message
about the Iraq invasion, about the "frontier in the war on terror". They seem unable or unwilling to make even subtle alterations in this message to fit conditions (like their condition of being in free fall).
