Scott McClellan: "I mean, I don't think anyone wants to be occupied"...
...and certainly we recognize that. And that's why it's important to continue to talk to the Iraqi people about the steps we are taking to help them realize a brighter future."

:grouphug:

During his press briefing today, Scott McClellan tantalizingly teased the audience with the "money shot" that never happened in tonight's speech.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/05/20040524-3.html

"We are in the middle of a strong recovery, because of the policies that this President advocated and passed in Congress."

:grouphug:

"MR. McCLELLAN: And I think that we have expressed our concerns about people using loopholes in the law to get around some of the intent of the campaign finance reforms. The President strongly supported the campaign finance law because he felt overall it would improve the system. Unfortunately, there are some that are using loopholes to get around the intent of that law."

:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

And finally, on the "leave the Bush twins alone" thread, one reporter approached the fearsome and rugged Scott with the "if they're part of the campaign, they're fair game...aren't they" question:

"MR. McCLELLAN: -- go about their lives. But the daughters have also expressed a strong interest in helping the President on his reelection. And I know the President very much appreciates that.

Q Therefore, they are subject to questions, aren't they? If they're going to be in the political campaign, they're certainly subject to questions?

MR. McCLELLAN: Les, I think I addressed your question. Go ahead.

Q You addressed it -- you evaded it."

1. I never thought I would miss Ron Ziegler
or Larry Speaks. Where did the chimp come up with this weasel?
However I am gratified that his mom is giving huge ammounts of trouble to Gov. Good-Hair.

2. Scott doesn't even pretend to answer questions any more
He just reads stock slogans when he wants to then gets hostile when he is called on his behavior. The contempt is simply amazing - can you imagine had the press actually been hostile to them for the entire term instead of giving them a pass?
