Even Brit Hume is seeing no hope for Bush in his "speeches"
Just had Fox added by my cable a few weeks ago and do not watch Fox because it takes only a minute to reconize "Nazis on Parade". However, today, I flipped by and flipped back because none other than almighty Hume was speaking to some anchor. He looked like a goldfish who had all the water drained out of his bowel!!

He said that there are presidential speeches that cause hikes in support/polls and cited the speech Bush gave to the UN because it outlined a different approach (i.e., fuck you UN). But he said that when a president is in trouble and hyping a speech and does nothing new but repackage the usual rhetoric it takes a toll and numbers drop. He then went through what the press "knows" about tonight's speech (and you know that whore Hume has a direct feeding tube to Rove). He went down point by point of what "might" turn the people on if somethng 'new' was revealed or proposed but that there is no evidence that there will be any such 'new proposals' or 'insights' on any of the subjects. He just kept repeating over and over again that the negative damage is much more probable than achieving anything. Thought the anchor would have a stroke but, of course, could not be snide or questioning God Hume.

Honey, when Fox is giving up, the second son of God is about to get nailed.

2. No doubt
Fox already has the text of the speech.

Hume is behaving the way the Senate and House Republicans did after Dubya's pep rally last week. They want substance. They want raw meat. Bush has only platitudes to offer.

There is a rebellion going on here and Roger Alles won't stand for it without jumping all over Rove..........

5. "...had all the water drained out of his bowel!!"
Nah - everyone at Faux (except Alan Colmes) has bowels (and other body parts) filled with something else.

6. Excellent mental image -- ha -- I thank you for it!
"He looked like a goldfish who had all the water drained out of his bowel!!"

When I read this, it took me a minute to realize you meant bowl, because bowel works so well too! I pictured Brit, all shriveled up and stuff -- a deflated carp. Excellent mental image.

8. That is good to know
we may be seeing truly the end now

And no, not at Free Republic, or the news groups on AOL... but that is why it is important to check on the media

Also, yesterday it was reported that the big four were not going to carry the speech...

If Rove was not able to convince them to carry it, the end is here

11. I was wondering about his attempt to wrap himself in the military
again tonight. You now the brass are like at odds with the civilians in the Pentagon and there is an open rebellion going on against Bush here and there. Don't you wish they would sit on their hands or bring rotten vegetables with them. Oh, god, it would be so delicious.......

12. Jimmy Carter's "malaise speech" in 1979
This was a speech given at the height of the energy crisis and stagflation of 1979, with Carter's numbers in the 30's. The speech was much hyped, Pat Caddell warned Carter the speech would fail, but he delivered it anyway. The speech was gloomy and offered the American people nothing new. Carter's numbers tanked even further, though his numbers bounced back to the mid-50's when the hostages were abducted in November.

Hear the speech here: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/site/media/play.php?id=135

13. definitely risky on Bush's part
If things don't improve in Iraq he'll be out of "options" to sway the American public. Plus, all this is taking time away from domestic issues--not too good in an election year, especially what with the price of gas.

14. Why would Bush make this speech at the U.S. Army War College?
After all, the War College published several papers highly critical of the Bush administrations's unilateralism and prewar planning for the Iraqi occupation.

15. W is a puppet.
"Why would Bush make this speech at the U.S. Army War College?"

Rove &/or the actual Pres. Cheney booked the gig. Maybe they thought it would add weight for the Bushco Cult. It may be getting to a point now where only the cult still have the faith, eh? Even the American sheep are starting to smell the decay from the miserable failure of this shallow, brain damaged puppet.

16. or could be telling audience how they are suppose to react
telling them if nothing new, then yes down faces, but if he were just to add something new, doesnt look like it, but if he did, though i dont see it...........but if he did, then success to bush

bush comes out and adds something new

ergo thru hume, the speech is successfull.

the people are not to think themselves.

this is my feel what hume is doing

17. lowering expectations...
...because I heard the WashPost reporter today say that the WH was worried that people would expect too much from this appearance.

So they have to lower expectations, and FOX is all too happy to oblige.

18. Agreed. Turd Blossom Rove and Hume have coordinated this.
When Bush appears to be his usual mentally unstable, lying, fucked up self, it will be cheered as a great triumph that he did not appear to be any more mentally unstable, dishonest, and fucked up than usual.

19. Exactly.
Hume has framed it so that if nothing changes in aWol's approval, it's a win. Even if it falls only a little.

Hume does not change. Ailes does not change.
