Even Brit Hume is seeing no hope for Bush in his "speeches"

Just had Fox added by my cable a few weeks ago and do not watch Fox because it takes only a minute to reconize "Nazis on Parade". However, today, I flipped by and flipped back because none other than almighty Hume was speaking to some anchor. He looked like a goldfish who had all the water drained out of his bowel!!

He said that there are presidential speeches that cause hikes in support/polls and cited the speech Bush gave to the UN because it outlined a different approach (i.e., fuck you UN). But he said that when a president is in trouble and hyping a speech and does nothing new but repackage the usual rhetoric it takes a toll and numbers drop. He then went through what the press "knows" about tonight's speech (and you know that whore Hume has a direct feeding tube to Rove). He went down point by point of what "might" turn the people on if somethng 'new' was revealed or proposed but that there is no evidence that there will be any such 'new proposals' or 'insights' on any of the subjects. He just kept repeating over and over again that the negative damage is much more probable than achieving anything. Thought the anchor would have a stroke but, of course, could not be snide or questioning God Hume.

Hume is behaving the way the Senate and House Republicans did after Dubya's pep rally last week. They want substance. They want raw meat. Bush has only platitudes to offer.

This was a speech given at the height of the energy crisis and stagflation of 1979, with Carter's numbers in the 30's. The speech was much hyped, Pat Caddell warned Carter the speech would fail, but he delivered it anyway. The speech was gloomy and offered the American people nothing new. Carter's numbers tanked even further, though his numbers bounced back to the mid-50's when the hostages were abducted in November.
