The End of Chimpy (We've Broken Through a Barrier)
Edited on Mon May-24-04 11:25 AM by Beetwasher
Nothing can save him now except possibly something drastic, like another terror attack and martial law or rigged elections. And even those might not work at this point.

We've broken through a barrier. ProfGAC had written at one point about something called the "bandwagon effect" and I believe we are seeing that now. His approval ratings are AT BEST in the low forties and his dissapprovals are approaching 60%. There's no going back. He's just not competent enough to pull it off. And now, with this bike incident (amazingly symbolic wouldn't you say?), like the Segway incident, like the pretzel incident (Trifecta anyone?), he's even more an object of scorn and ridicule.

Remember Ford? Bush is Ford on an ether binge.

These weekly Iraq speeches will be a disaster. He's a defective product and when your dissaprovals are at or near 60% and your a shitty public speaker your only going to remind people what a fuck up you are when you appear on TV (even though hardly anyone will watch) with abrasions all over your face. This will only solidfy the opinion of the majority who now dissaprove. Only an idiot (I believe it's Bush's idea to do this actually) would keep reminding people how defective he is, but then again, they have no choice.

They chose to foist this defect on this country and now they gotta live and die by this defective moron. If they had picked a puppet with a modicum of competence, they might have been able to pull off their seizure of this country. Instead they picked this pathetic loser and I'm damn glad they did because they will stick by him and the whole Repub party will take years to live down the shame of standing by him. He'll take them all down with him and that's fine with me.

2. It is interesting when he makes disasters out of major speeches
he seems to sport an odd assortment of facial boo-boos shortly thereafter. One would think that whoever the chronic abuser of the puppet's visage is, he/she would have the sense to hit him where a suit will hide the evidence. Guess they are more callous than any of us ever :tinfoilhat: imagined.

3. Over Confident
Edited on Mon May-24-04 11:45 AM by HFishbine
I'm hopeful that you're right, but look, Bush still has time, he could change course in a dime on Iraq and end up looking brilliant. Despite all the "stay the course" rhetoric, Bush may yet end up pulling off some sort of staged withdrawal, accelerated hand-over or internationalization of the occupation that could boost his chances in November.

14. Oh, Don't Worry. I'm Definitely NOT Overconfident
I won't be satisfied until Bush and this cabal are tried for treason. I now firmly believe in kicking him and everyone associated with him in the nuts, even when their down, over and over again until they're turned into dust.

17. Bush can't change course on *anything*
His idea of "moral clarity" is never changing his mind, no matter what.

Beside that, he's completely blocked himself off from feedback. I've seen things lately saying that he's stopped watching tv news altogether, talks more and listens less, and avoids hearing any expression of doubt or uncertainty.

None of that is the behavior of someone who is prepared to change course on a dime.

I don't believe his advisors could force him to change, either. Bush may let them run their own departments, but the little dictator is very insistant that his policies rule overall.

This is a man who is prepared to run this country into the ground before he will admit that he was wrong about anything.

They're not planning on EVER leaving, the international community will NOT help them out. They are stuck in the quagmire of quagmires. The only thing they can hope for is divine intervention.

34. If he can think of a way to change course in Iraq effectively
it WOULD be brilliant! We aren't hearing about any possible solutions that would help much in the short term. I don't expect the Chimp to come up with anything remotely brilliant. And even if he accidentally thought of the right thing to do, it would go against everything that the neocons have worked so hard to "achieve," and would therefore be a complete no-go.

I don't underestimate the evil chimp administration's ability to do underhanded and criminal things in an effort to be reelected, but I am hoping it might be too late for them.

35. Brilliant? Hell, That Would be Miraculous!
Iraq is fucked from here on out.

Their only shred of hope is in his numbers on preventing terrorism. In some sense, that gives me hope because I would have to think they really ARE doing everything they can to prevent an attack because if one happens before the election, then he can't claim he's keeping us safe anymore.

At this point even imposition of martial law and cancelling elections may not work. I don't think Kerry would stand for that and he's rapidly losing (if not already lost) the support of the much of the military brass. To pull off martial law he would have to activate the Nat'l Guard, and we all know where they are right now.

9. Possibly Doing It Powell's Way
I think one more thing might stem the rising tide of disapproval for him right now; if the administration decides to put the neocons (or at least their Iraq policy) out to pasture by going back to the U.N., getting another resolution and playing it out by Powell's rules.

I do not think this is likely to happen as the neocons are in it for all the marbles now; their intellectually-extinct world view is on the line for all posterity to judge in Iraq and there's no way they are going to budge.

16. X-lent post , Mr. Washer
"They chose to foist this defect on this country and now they gotta live and die by this defective moron."

Placing him in office and surrounding him with ultimate insiders was an attempt to provide enough padding for him to be his idiot self yet have handlers make him appear "presidential." Sort of like a Hummer sheilds us from the dimwit at the wheel. Sort of like this little joke I heard the other day:

Q: What is the difference between a porcupine and a Hummer?

A: Porcupine has the pricks on the outside.

19. I keep thinking about the little old citizens and the young testerone
men who call C-Span WJ every day. They are so passionate in their loyalty to Bush, it almost seems like they are drugged. I'm actually feeling sorry for them. They don't even seem capable of imagining that he is in a downslide that he may not recover from.

But, it also fills me with fear - especially with the testerone men and the idea that Bush handlers will come up with an alternate scheme to keep control.

27. Definitely Not Cocky
I put nothing past these criminals. However, another terror attack will not be good for the Chimp. His ONLY positive numbers (BARELY, like 51%) are in terrorism, i.e. protecting us from. If there's another attack, his only positive is gone. He might try to impose martial law as a result, but the military is now turning on him as well and the Nat'l guard is deployed in Iraq. He would have a VERY hard time accomplishing that.

That doesn't mean they won't do something desperate, I'm almost sure they will, but at this point their options are EXTREMELY limited and anything they try is going to be a crapshoot as far as it's outcome. They've really painted themselves into a corner.

32. "People tend to form their opinion of the economy in the spring"
I heard this on NPR. If true the barrier has been broken, the last 2 months have been awful for him and his minions. There were some better economic numbers but they have been able to trumpet them as the complete lack of planning and the impossible-to-miss evidence of the war being based on a lie has had them spinning spinning spinning. They are trying to play catch up and there is evidence that as many as 25% of his base have turned against him, it was going to be close WITH 100%-he can't stand to lose one vote.

33. Yup! It will be impossible for him to turn his numbers on the economy
around. That perception is already set in stone pretty much from now to the election.

Their resources are all tied up in trying to salvage their base and in playing defense. Not to mention Kerry has yet to hardly lift a finger.

Howard Stern is on a rampage (This is a laser guided missile into the very heart of his base)
Moore's film is impending doom (when people finally see the footage of him in the classroom on 9/11 when the second plane hit they might storm the WH w/ pitchforks!)
Indictments are coming in Plamegate
Iraq is a clusterfuck shitpie that's only going to get worse.
The June 30 handover is going to be another "mission accomplished" type of PR fuck up.

I see no viable options for them at this point. They've painted themselves into a corner. They've squandered 90% approval ratings and the good will of the entire world. Anything they do now is going to be done in light of a majority who dissaprove of the admin. and are now awakened to the fact that the Chimp is an incompetent fuck up. How do you repair that image?? You can't.

we have to fight to the last minute as if we're 10 points behind, no matter how good things look.

And they do look good right now, Chimpy's approval numbers are still dropping and the Wrong Track/Right Track numbers are very much in our favor (wrong track: 65%) BUT these guys are a bunch of crooks who do not believe in democracy or the rule of law. We can't relax until President Kerry is sworn in on Jan 20 2005.
