Whatever happened to Emily Miller?

She's the one who tried to curtail Russert's interview with Colin Powell last week. Ordinarily one can expect that she would be sending out resumes and waiting for her first unemployment check by now.

However, given the tendenacies of the Bush Administration, she is probably in line for the White House Chief of Staff position.

4. powells interview with russert

she took camera off powell and said interview over. russert got mad. and powell finished interview after poswell told emily to get out of the way

5. Russert was interviewing Powell on MTP

Powell was in Jordan, with a camera aimed at him for various interviews on Sunday shows. Russert was nearing the end of his ten minutes (with still two left, I think) when he asked about the false data in Powell's UN presentation. At this point the camera swung away and in a surreal split-screen Russert was asking questions of empty horizon, with just the ocean and a palm tree looking back at him. You could hear the aide who turned the camera, Emily, say 'It's (the interview) over' and Powell saying 'No, it isn't, he's still asking me questions!', then Russert says 'I think that was your aide Mr. Secretary--I don't think this is appropriate,' and then Powell saying 'Get out of the way, Emily' in a tone that is really worth hearing, and then the interview concluded.

7. the last I read...

...Richard Boucher, Powell spokesperson and a career State Department employee held over from Clinton, said that Emily was an excellent employee.

What else I learned about her is that she 1)"controls" access to Powell, 2) is heartily disliked by journalists, 3) was involved in the DeLay plot to shut down the recount in Florida where political staffers were flown in to stage a "riot"

Apparently she's Powell's "minder" and apparently he doesn't mind or can't do anything about it.
