Intolerance is now a virtue!
Edited on Sun May-23-04 08:59 PM by fiziwig
That's right. This author is now calling on right-wing Christians to stop being so tolerant!!!! (I haven't met a tolerant one yet!) Here comes global religious war as the Christians march forward to destroy the atheists, gays, Buddhists, Muslims, etc., etc. They are pumping up the rhetoric branding everybody but themselves as evil demons!

This is really starting to get scary!

"Christian author and speaker, Ryan Dobson, calls himself totally, radically intolerant, and he’s calling on other Christians to be the same way. In fact, the title of his new book is Be Intolerant Because Some Things Are Just Stupid. Dobson joined Lee Webb on The 700 Club recently to discuss his belief that Christians have become too tolerant in today's society."

<snip>

"Christians are the only ones asked to be tolerant in this culture. The homosexuals are not asked to be tolerant. Only Christians are asked to put aside their views, put aside their opinions, not speak up, not stand out. We’re asked to sit back and take a back seat to the rest of the culture. And it’s time that we stood up for what we believe in."

2. How thick are these people?
They think they're being persecuted because they're NOT ALLOWED to interfere with other people's lives--somehow, they insist that is more intolerant than their own repeated interference in everybody elses' lives.

14. Not letting so called Christians...
persecute people is persecuting them...

"If you don't let us burn people at the stake for heresy your persecuting us!"

My apoligies to the true Christians, but this Dobson prick is making you look bad. Not your fault.

3. Wonder if he's related to James Dobson.
The evangelicals' 'guiding light' as regards the family (of 'Focus On The Family' fame). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe James Dobson was the one who beat up a dachshund because it didn't want to sleep where the good 'doctor' wanted it to. Wonder if Ryan is a brother or son? If so, this isn't especially surprising. Even if not, it wouldn't surprise me -- evangelicals have never been tolerant, they've just kept their grumbling about what evil people everybody who isn't them is within their church walls until now.

7. His son
He's one of those "cutting edge" Christians, doing the oxymoronic Christian Rock thing and speaking to the youth culture (so he thinks). He looks like a completely nasty piece of work, just like his daddy.

6. They teach that in the churches already.
I am atheist/agnostic, but I'd be the last person earth to deny a child of mine the "comforts" of religion if any.

In his confermation class they did worksheets. He brought one home and said he didn't want to learn this, and I agreed with him and removed him immediately. The sheet wanted essay answers to questions on when and how it was all right to descriminate against Gays, People living in "sin," and people of other religions.

You're too late. They've been planning this for decades.

8. Bigotry has always been a virtue to the wingnuts
They're not content unless they have someone to hate, be it communists, homosexuals, feminists, liberals, muslims, or whoever else the Republican party has decided is an enemy of their twisted sense of "morality."

13. When majority groups start playing the victim....
its because they're mad that they are no longer allowed to dominate
and claim that loss as discrimination, having never experienced
the real thing as members of a minority have.

Christians are the majority religion in this country. Deal with it.
